10. It takes a community to raise a child - include them from the start.
9. You can't control everything - your birth may not (and likely won't) go according to exact plans, so keep your expectations realistic, be flexible and keep the big picture in mind.
8. For the labour support people specifically - it's not about you so whatever fear or discomfort you have at this moment, however tired you are, it is much much worse for them so suck it up and don't make it about you.
7. Love to get a baby in - make sure you're surrounded with love to get the baby out.
6. Crowd management - give nosey in-laws a job so they'll stay out of the way.
