Just finished 'Dinner at the Night Library' by Hika Harada. A more bijou novel about people, secrets, books and food you could not hope to read πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ€“πŸ“š

Just finished 'Every one still here' - by Liadan ni Chuinn. Powerful, light telling of a heavy set of stories. Final section listing a selection of British military atrocities in Northern Ireland leaves lead in your heart ☘️

Am not getting the LFC interim coach chat when the best next perm option is currently down the job centre?

@mariannepickles.bsky.social just finished 'Time Hack' by Marianne Pickles and beautifuly read by Kristin Atherton on audible. Thing I appreciated as I reached the later stages of the book is the meticulous, miraculous attention to excruciatingly fine points of detail. Lovely work #booksky πŸ“š

Any #LFC fans surprised Marmadashvili not used tonight? It'll be upsetting if Ali pops a calf 3 days after playing the other night...

Have Spurs sacked the manager yet following Palace loss?! Or was tonight Thomas Frank's fault as well? #YNWA

Hmm I thought Ibou abandoned his post ball watching and conceded the first goal, although he may have otherwise performed well

Tbf that is still football and we are not good at winning against it. If LFC brought their energy level and tactical application for even 2 x 20 mins it's a comfortable win, but we have lost the ability even to do that. Best GK, CB and MF in the league and the team still less than sum of the parts

Indeed. Wasn't there a World Cup or euros recently where there was a big push on wrestling at set pieces and a number of penalties given in the early games? Not like it can't be done...

I guess Tony Pulis’ Stoke City had to win the league eventually. He just needed the refereeing environment to shift enough in his direction

#LFC benefited yesterday from lots of luck, first, but also from being allowed to shove GK around at a corner. Why?
Seems odd that a whole league has opted to bin all laws around fouling defenders and GKs because one team scored frequently from corners. And yet not officially changed any rules..

Am about half way through @mariannepickles.bsky.social Time Hack - follow up to Artificial Selection. Very nice take on the 'Rogue AI' story. Fun how the human protagonist seems to get more clunky, with weakening people skills and the AI becomes more slick, empathetic, ethical... 🎩 #booksky

Nottingham Forest (A) 2025-26 - The Stats (Yet another) tale of two halves as Liverpool leave it late.

If you only count 1st halves, Liverpool would be 12th in the Premier League this season.

If you only count 2nd halves, they'd be 4th.

#LFC are scoring their 3rd-fewest 1st half goals/game in a league season in their history.

Full analysis in my review.

Neil on Macca as the Player of Requirement. Can be awful (or invisible) for much of a game, but becomes whatever is needed, at the moment when that need presents itself. In this case, a finisher, an ersatz 9. Not a bad shout #LFC

yeah, me being picky again. "Beat the dross; win the league" (attrib S. Brundish, c. 10+y ago) applies every year

Quite an odd comment. LFC fan expectation is not "not losing" but winning. Don't know how many wins there have been out of last 19 but I suspect it's not inspiring

Eh bien, there's definitely debate, but it's a good shout. The longevity, consistency of output and almost unparalleled availability of Salah put him up there. Stevie feels a bit like a nostalgia option, unicorn footballer who could have played in any/every position on the pitch & be motm every game

Enjoyable (for #LFC fans) bit of #arshenfreude this evening watching the sleety shambles conjured up by Gabriel and Raya to give Wolves an equaliser. Rare to see a goal where the last four touches (at least!) of the ball are by the defending team. Quality

Still have @megiddings.bsky.social wonderful The Women Could Fly in my head, but now onto Liadan ni Chuinn's Everyone Still Here on paper, and @mariannepickles.bsky.social Time Hack on audio (great reader Kristin Atherton btw). Some different options for #booksky πŸ“š
