This is so true. I knew very little about what the indigenous people went through & Awae encouraged me to look deeper into their history. When I discovered it spanned over 150 years, I was stunned. I think many people, young & old, are able to learn so much from this show.

The residential school storyline in AWAE highlighted Canada’s dark history, showing the trauma of forced assimilation through Ka’kwet’s journey. It authentically honored Indigenous voices, raised awareness, and fostered empathy, contributing to truth-telling & reconciliation in a powerful way.

This is so beautiful! Oh my goodness. What a wonderful gift❤️To have your own story in your hands & gifted to you by someone equally as special. Just lovely.

Jeannie is definitely my favourite but I also loved Mr Avery who offered kindness & a bright energy. I also liked Mrs Thomas, her sharp tongue and amazing memory, despite her age. She was very grumpy but highly amusing.
