A day late for #WildflowerHour but this marsh marigold spotted yesterday growing on the shore of Loch Lomond is too beautiful not to share.

One of my favorite flowerpiercers, the Masked Flowerpiercer has an exquisite color scheme. They use that little hook at the end of their bill to pierce the base of flowers and then lick then nectar out of the hole. They're referred as nectar robbers because they don't help pollinate.
