These are so beautiful!
Small monthly donations add up!
Based on some recent reports I've seen it definitely seems like we're seeing an uptick in ICE presence across Massachusetts, especially around courthouses. Not a huge surge, but a clear increase in activity.
As always, call LUCE if you suspect you see ICE: 617-370-5023
I remember my grandmother having a charge-a-plate.
I always find them deeply compelling and fascinating.

But what a way to go
Agent Maxwell Smart from the old 60s spy comedy Get Smart, holding his shoe-phone up to his ear.
OMG
Yay! Instant sign-up.
Yeah. In my experience (as a fiction editor) is that POV is the most profound choice the writer of a narrative can make, and it's REALLY hard to explain why.
just posted a new paper, How Tech Took Over, to SSRN.
It's about how decades of legal and policy interventions made the tech industry an essential partner in public governance. I map the kinds of functions tech cos are performing today, and I argue that their activities are salient to con law.
A novelist pal wrote me as a character w/this name and I used it as my handle in the early internet days. When a newsgroup friend booked me a flight under the pseud, it was either forfeit the trip or change my name legally. So I changed.
(It's a family name, though, so not totally out of the blue.)
Hi again. I've got two additional trees to report! But I'm having trouble staying logged in to your site. Could you DM me?
Much-needed smile this morning. Thank you.
I need help
I am going to be unhoused soon. My apartment is pushing me out for someone with a better credit score who doesnβt pay late.
I literally have a negative checking account and have a βi need to move in less than 2 weeksβ mountain in front of me
I havenβt eaten today
Iβm scared
Dropped a little something your way. Sorry for your struggles. It shouldn't be this way.
I tell you what: the threat of being uncool is a huge motivator!
I was soooooo envious when I read this! Ideally, Washington, Oregon, and California will find a way to follow suit.
What a beautiful drawing!
That aviatrix jacket is fantastic!
I've just had the loveliest walk on streets I go on every day, looking up instead of down, and noticing things I've never noticed before. Haven't found another monkey puzzle tree yet, but boy do we have a lot of tall evergreens in this town!
New hobby!
And may I say that mapping a particular species of tree is a weird and wonderful project?
Done!
I'll go back out and get some more pictures. There are several of them in my neighborhood and now I know why: someone apparently gave out seeds of this exotic evergreen at the 1905 Lewis & Clark Exposition here in Portland.
I did get out to glimpse the almost-totality. Eerie and beautiful.
The full moon of March 2, 2026, low and big in the sky above a red house in a Portland neighborhood. It is framed by the bare winter branches of a deciduous tree, and the pom-pom shape of a tall monkey puzzle tree (Araucaria araucana, I'm pretty sure).
Happy lunar eclipse to those who observe.

Incredibly effective...and affecting.
Thanks for the info. I clicked around and found your Medium post about the Dear Abby letter. Excellent!
You're doing good work out there!
(Do we generally understand AVEN's definitions to be a little outdated? I'm not sure.)
