3/6 Climate risk is already impacting financial markets.
Flood-damaged property and stranded fossil fuel assets are reducing the value of investment funds today.
2/6 These sectors face growing financial risk β and therefore so do those investments. That risk doesnβt just affect the planet β it affects peoplesβ hard-earned retirement savings.

The climate crisis is making insurance unaffordable for many π¨
βWeβre seeing more frequent, more severe extreme weather events and that inevitably affects claims and affects pricing β it canβt not.β - Felicity Alvey, University of Cambridge @cisl.cam.ac.uk

Extreme weather βοΈ
The role that the climate crisis played in the formation of the recent storms in the Med is still uncertain.
However, early analysis from @climatecentral.org found it made a marine heatwave that supercharged the storms 10 times more likely.

π If weβre serious about tackling plastic pollution and the climate crisis, we must address production - not just recycling.
Weβre challenging that system in court. Our legal action targets INEOS's β¬4bn 'Project One' plastics facility in Antwerp - a project that would lock in fossil-fuel based plastic production for decades, pushed by billionaire Jim Ratcliffe.

In a stunning new book, author Beth Gardiner investigates how recycling was promoted for decades as a full solution, while fossil fuel and petrochemical companies expanded plastic production behind the scenes.

And this week, the Treaty became an Act of Parliament, meaning we're one step closer to the UK being legally bound by this international agreement.
The next step is the UK putting in place secondary legislation to ensure it will be able to meet the Treaty's legal obligations. 3/3
This Treaty will create a legal mechanism to protect Earth's high seas - waters that don't belong to any State.
After reaching its 60 State ratifications last year, the amount needed to come into force, the Treaty has now been ratified by 85/145 States that originally signed it in 2023. 2/3
ππThe High Seas Treaty has become UK lawππ
In a big moment for ocean protection, the UK has taken an important step towards formally ratifying the High Seas Treaty, or BBNJ agreement. 1/3
We brought this landmark case with @amigasdelatierra.bsky.social and @cecuconsumo.bsky.social .
This victory is not just about one community in Spain. Itβs about whether Europe β and the world β allows polluters to rewrite the laws that protect us.
This win hits differently.
Polluters & political allies are dismantling Europeβs envi protections. This time, a group of Spanish residents has reminded them what comes first:
Clean water
Fresh air
The dignity of local communities
They proved it by using the very laws that are now under attack:
It's over, and we won: the Spanish supreme court rejected the local authorities' appeal on our landmark case against industrial livestock pollution.
The judgment is now final: authorities must be accountable for protecting citizens' fundamental rights.
It's a game-changer for communities in Europeβ¬οΈ

The UK government has published its first 'forever chemicals' plan.
Forever chemicals β PFAS β are used in mountains of everyday items from frying pans to waterproof clothes.
But we know they never break down, and harm our environment and our health.

ππA deeply unenticing sounding 'cocktail of pesticides' is polluting our apples all across Europe, a new study from @paneurope.bsky.social has found.
Eighty-five percent of the samples contained several pesticide residues, with some showing traces of up to seven different chemicals.
The ban would prohibit advertising for high-carbon products and services incl. flights, petrol and diesel vehicles, gas heating contracts and meat products.
