Why are they trying to make it stronger if its non structural?

That looks good but compressed earth blocks are more for thermal mass rather than insulation which is the principle attribute for light earth and I presume for non structural hempcrete.

Your right tensile strength isn't particularly important precisely because hempcrete and light earth are not structural. I guess hempcrete could be structural but all the builds I've seen in Australia are non-structural. Hence my comparison to light earth which also isn't structural.

Is there any empirical work comparing Hempcrete and Strawcrete? Light earth using hemp hurd versus straw?
There is for light earth using straw, rice hulls and several different types of wood shavings and saw dust.

Where are you getting the hemp figures from?

Well of course the properties are different but by how much?
Again is hempcrete overrated? Hemp fiber has excellent tensile strength but my understanding is that the material used in hempcrete is the hurd portion of the stalk which has little tensile strength. eg Way less than straw.
