Republican State Legislators Rush to Limit Their Own Regulators
Proponents of deregulation ignore what regulation is really about: protecting people, saving lives, making markets more fair, said CSS Executive Director Rachel Weintraub.
This is a good overview of the right's deregulatory agenda as it is playing out in the states.

Trumpβs EPA repealing the Endangerment Finding ignores bedrock scientific evidence on the harms to public health posed by greenhouse gasses and climate change.
Since it was established that scientific evidence has only gotten stronger.
All of us will suffer as a result of this dangerous decision.

Another big conclusion: Biden admin didn't take seriously enough the regulatory state's sclerosis. They were too naive about courts and unprepared to wage war in them.
The report proposes Dems stand for major regulatory *and* court reform going forward:

If Republicans overrule the parliamentarian tonight, nothing will be safe from partisan overreach.
There will be chaos in the Senate if laws & rules are simply ignored whenever a majority wants.
This is like nuking the filibuster in the most arbitrary & corrupt way possible.

E&E News: Senate approaches moment of truth on California waivers
Senate Majority Leader John Thune may decide this week whether to defy the parliamentarian.
The good news is that if the Senate uses the Congressional Review Act against the California waivers it will effectively nullify the CRA.
The bad news is that will be the case because the CRA *will effectively replace* regular order lawmaking in the Senate. subscriber.politicopro.com/article/eene...

Senate Republicans Could Blow Up the Filibuster to Pass More Harmful LegislationΒ - Public Citizen
WASHINGTON, D.C. β Despite top Republicansβ promises to maintain the filibuster, Senate Republicans are considering a backdoor maneuver to overruleβ¦
Senate Republicans are considering a backdoor nuclear option to repeal California's Clean Air Act waivers.
If they do it, there will be nothing to stop them from doing it over and over again with policies that would harm Americans and destabilize our democracy.

Today is the last day Congress can use the Congressional Review Act to strike down Biden era health, safety, workers, consumer, financial, and environmental protections.
But over the past few months, Congress has repeatedly abused the CRA in ways that are completely lawless.
That must end now.

The Congressional Review Act doesn't even apply to waivers, but Republicans and these 35 Dems love pollution so much that they voted to repeal the waiver that CA got from the EPA to require zero-emissions vehicles by 2035.

How Republicans Are Flouting the Rules of the Congressional Review Act
Republicans want to expand the CRA into much of what the executive branch does. They may live to regret that.
The Congressional Review Act is like a shortcut. You can evade the filibuster with a CRA resolution that nullifies certain rules from the last administration. So now Republicans want to expand the definition of a "rule" to nullify a whole lot more stuff. From @emmarjanssen.bsky.social:
