Attacking the Liberals from the right is fine. If anything, it's encouraged and like a cheeky, edgy game.
Attacking Labor from the left is taboo as fuck. It's shocking and career-ending.
It's a double standard we need to address.
Accepting that this brutality happens under Labor governments isn't something that people can accept, because it means the easy solution to our problems has failed.
Breaking free from that will be extremely hard, and the ABC and the Guardian is helping people resist it.
If Minns was a Liberal Premier, his worst and most inflammatory lines would be front and centre. Every Labor MP's Instagram feed would be full of what a horrible, inhumane prick he is.
Instead, the vibe is like this is a bad dream and the outrage is just at a nebulous *vibe*.
I can't help but feel like if the Liberals were in power, the outrage would be immense and very simple.
But bc Labor is in power at a federal and state level, the outrage is constrained and confused. ABC headlines are passive. They want to hate cops but don't feel like they can.
Seeing white people panic-monger about 'omg conservatives won elections in Thailand' is hilarious (conservative politicians here voted for gay marriage, improved abortion rights, and legalized weed).
