I feel like the government could meaningfully accelerate renewable uptake in a number of ways; for example they could make it easier to build pylons rather than burying electric infrastructure. Like they’ve done fine at permitting within the system, but all that stuff will come online in 2029.

My updated gun control policy proposal is that no one gets access to guns EXCEPT the β€œ30-50 feral hogs” guy, who will be permitted to own military-grade armaments for use in his new government job as the Official Feral Hog Murderer

Whose take is that?!?! I mean do they understand the things British business is good at?

I do find it frustrating that dunking on Yimbys is trendy when it’s like, we’re trying to build more housing and sometimes falling short because of implacable and totally irrational opposition, and somehow it’s our fault for not doing better.

Is there anyone in the country who uses heating oil who couldn’t have just got a heat pump

It’s Nimbyism with extra steps. @michael-fox.bsky.social recounts how Zack was doing everything he could to stop one of his housing developments

I wonder if Nate Higgins and the Green Party of Newham can point to a single housing development in Newham they’ve actually supported. I bet they can’t!

Like you can’t vote for this, it’s complete nonsense. We’re already building a catastrophically small number of houses in London and now Newham wants to basically make private development impossible. FFS.

The year is 2050, we live under Chinese uni party control, the armed socialist resistance of greater Manchester spend their planning meetings bemoaning the Lib Dems not going into coalition with them in 2010

A lot of the American & Israeli war on Iran has a naval dimension. UK assets, trade, Iranian capability, US operations…

As a former Royal Navy lieutenant who was twice deployed to the Gulf, with some minor experience of Iranian naval forces, I have some thoughts that may be useful for Bluesky 1/?

All of the big protests over Israel stopped as soon as Trump got in office and never started again even after he bombed Iran twice in cooperation with them.

This is plainly visible to anyone with fucking eyes but you'll still get yelled at for saying it.

The number of commentators/journalists salivating at blaming Starmer for ruining the β€œspecial relationship” is genuinely pathetic

If anyone ruined it- if it even really exists- here’s a reminder of who did it.
