Based on my experience fundraising for arts nonprofits, I think the lack of public funding for arts, science, etc is one reason that interesting not-evil people hang out with boring evil rich people. One benefit of taxing the wealthy is reducing their ability to purchase social camouflage.

my god this makes me furious. imagining the members of this LOVELY community - that is SO LOVED in Mpls! - hearing this makes me want to never stop throwing up
same here, I laughed so hard, so many reasons
i think the two greatest bands of all time are the isley brothers and talk talk. times like this i wish i was even 1% good at writing about music so i could offer a better defense of this than βcβmon theyβre really good bandsβ
wow. I needed this today, thank you!!
π€ so grateful for the reality of impermanence π€
I've been thinking about Albini a lot lately; I suppose I'll always wonder what he'd have to say about bullshit times. A stranger's post told me the Rainbo Rink show was 30 years ago, so sharing this in case a stranger could use a reminder of their own space for friends, music, + kindness. π
We are huge fans of the @cosmicchambo.bsky.social podcast so I'm pretty chuffed that something from the new @jamesholden.bsky.social & Zimpel album made it into his latest mix>>
ha - in Jan they had 00, 0, 1, 2, and 3 on the court together and had some fun with that lol
I'll never, EVER get over That Scene in the juke joint. incredible. and yes - it's even better upon additional viewings!
I wish I could experience it for the first time again - and simultaneously think it gets better each time you watch it. reminds me of the most strangely tender moments of ITYSL in that way. I canβt stop thinking about it
my university had a Dean Paaige Turner! (she's now a provost elsewhere)
I love this team so so so much and WOW does it feel wild to feel this good about something ππ
I love that one too!
this has stood out in my mind for years as one of the most misleading, terrible trailers for a great movie
goosebumps EVERY TIME I hear this song π
one of my all-time favorite film scores!
it is so well done I was in the car on the way home when I kinda gasped and remembered that he isn't actually two actors. like at one point they share a cigarette. it's INCREDIBLE
oh wow I didnβt think of that, YES
in the theater, too! I promise it deserves that experience
oh that is a really good point! same here
I LOVED IT - and woo boy does it have me examining my own (white) lifelong consumption of Black culture. so much to learn from this incredible - and yes, fun - film and I plan to see it again and again
heβs getting as many of my dollars as possible too - and I hardly ever go to the theater. itβs that special, that incredible, that important PLUS fun, gorgeous, and - particularly That Scene - a truly transcendent experience
I swear I will never forget experiencing that scene. so good it made me think every other time I called something βtranscendentβ was a joke
totally agree - I loved it all but whoa, the *sound* was incredible in the theater!!
I rarely go to the theater let alone multiple times for one flick, but I was scheduling second and third dates on my calendar on the way home from the first
Iβm not typically that guy but it *really* is worth seeing in a theater. seriously
