This Tibetan Year of the Fire Horse, is the year 2153 in the Buddhist calendar. The Year of the Fire Horse only happens once every 60 years. The horse embodies movement and independence, fire amplifies energy, creativity, and change - signaling a year of forward motion and meaningful action.

One main argument for Canada not trading with China was (and continues) to be itβs gross human rights violations and genocide. The current US administration is not only committing human rights violations and genocide, but tearing up international norms and rule of law. Which devil to trade with?

As we bring in a new year filled with fast-paced news that is often disturbing and stressful, I am elated to share a slight deviation to ease the current trend: my article "Going Slow in Bhutan" in the latest issue of Tashi Delek Magazine, the inflight magazine of Drukair. Stay tuned for the book!

𧡠These humble Buddhist monks are being met and supported by thousands as they make their journey. Some are walking barefoot. For those who took my class on this subject, this is Socially Engaged Buddhism at work! It can literally change the world, and move mountains. May peace prevail on earth! π

Happy New Year! May it bring peace, contentment & kindness! I ended 2026 by handing out "Packets of Hope" to unhoused people with a good friend - an amazing experience - more on this soon! As 2026 begins, I feel humbled to follow the #WalkforPeace, as Buddhist monks walk to bring peace to our world.

π§΅It also changed Canada forever. December 6th would become a national day to recognize our fight to end all forms of violence against women. Today, ceremonies and vigils are taking place all across our country. Never forgotten. We will always remember.

π§΅It also became a turning point for me, as it changed the way I viewed things forever. It laid the ground for my life in student politics including co-founding POWE McGill, and later my career in development and academia, as the struggle for gender equality across the world became a central drive.

Never forgotten.
On December 6, 1989, a lone gunman walked into the engineering school Ecole Polytechnique. He separated the young women students from the men, and murdered 14 women point blank with a semi-automatic machine gun. This event utterly shattered many people's lives. #ecolepolytechnique π§΅

Canadians are not allowed to read or post newspaper articles from outside of Canada. What are they trying to hide? In the meantime, most Canadians are oblivious about climate change. They lead high carbon emitting lives, with little recognition or info about impacts of their choices on the world.

@georgemonbiot.bsky.social such an important piece that everyone should read. I would add, part of the problem is the critical omission/exclusion of climate change information, data, research and stories. In Canada, it's business as usual - 14th highest high carbon emissions/capita in the world!

The darkest force underlying the climate emergency, is the systematic, funded and coordinated propagation of a "storm of lies" by corporate-supported media - @George Monbiot⬠in an important piece in @theguardian.com. "We cannot fight the climate crisis without also fighting the epistemic crisis".
