Never mind all those noisy electric guitars - let's get the hits sounding great with Vincent Bell's electric sitar!
The opening scenes of David Bowie's full 20 minute film, "Jazzin' For Blue Jean", directed by Julien Temple, were shot in my old street, Formosa St, in Maida Vale. The actors pass Mrs Mack's grocery store and there's Bowie, cleaning the windows of my local, the Prince Alfred.
Some years ago we took my 90yo mother-in-law, in a wheelchair, to the top of Angkor Wat in Cambodia. A Japanese tour guide asked me how old she was and when I told him, his party of Japanese tourists all filed past her one by one, and bowed to her. Respect for age and endeavour.
Thank you!
The original video for 'The Preacher' is another that has been lost so here is a replacement. I hope you like it.

Another video accidentally deleted and had to upload again. This was the one where I tried writing, singing and playing all the instruments myself so I was glad to find it wasn't lost.

After closing my Vinyl Solution accounts I found that all my videos that were uploaded via VS were deleted. Gone forever ๐ช But I found "That Highway" and have uploaded it again. So if you liked it on YouTube before it would be much appreciated if you could like it again.

Altogether! 'Heya, heya, heya, heya, heya, heya, heya, heya, heya !!' Wellington supergroup from 1970; Shane Hales, Bruce Robinson, Rufus Rehu, Bruno Lawrence, Rick White. Peter Dawkins on the desk, b-side a Wayne Mason original.
One of the finest hard rock singles of all time, Black Sabbath's magnum opus, the magnificent "Paranoid" from 1970. This is the Phonogram produced New Zealand 45, complete with the original company sleeve. Got a head? Then bang it.
It is true.
Startled to hear a friend of mine say she had a lion this morning. Turns out she just stayed in bed a little longer than usual. So that's all right then.
Does anybody know how long a yonk is? It's just that someone just told me she hadn't seen me for yonks and I just wondered how long it had been. Unless, of course, a yonk is a barrier or impediment or some sort and she hasn't been able to see me because of all the yonks in the way.
Most rock drummers play a beat punctuated with fills - on the 'Underture', from 'Tommy' - which lasts for ten minutes - Keith Moon constantly plays fills, occasionally punctuated by the beat. He wrote his own rules, did Moonie!
Me: I was just thinking ....
Mrs Vinylsol: Yes, darling?
Me: It must be quite hard to use a toilet if you're on skis.
Mrs Vinylsol: (rolls eyes)
"At only eight tracks long, "Let's Dance" was a cutting engineer's dream, tailor-made to sonically sparkle on vinyl" (Tom Doyle).
Keep your LP the right length. Sacrifice a song or two if necessary. Sound quality is more important than song quantity.
It's annoying opening a so-called rock encyclopedia and reading an entry about a band I was in which is completely inaccurate. At best they take a couple of unrelated facts and draw a conclusion which is completely wrong. Makes you wonder about other band's entries and how accurate they are.
Strange to think that when the 20th Anniversary of the Enz came around in 1993, it seemed that they had been with us forever - and now we've passed the thirtieth anniversary of the twentieth anniversay and they're back on stage!
After the huge success of Walter Carlos' "Switched On Bach" the next step, naturally, was - "Switched On Bacharach". Christopher Scott tackles the melodic master's classics on the moog synthesizer.
Why do people say 'Rot in Hell"? You can't rot if you're on fire. Tricky stuff, theology, isn't it?
Bureaucracy does not speak with the same language as ordinary human beings. For example, bureaucracy, in the form of an infringement notice, will say 'Offence: Failure To Obey Traffic Signals' whereas an ordinary person would say 'Ha! You went through a fucking red light'.
George Blackmore, Fellow of the Royal College Of Organists, was a man of great taste and cool and made the decision to ascend, not in a balloon full of gas or even in a basket, but while seated at a Hammond organ. And not only is that a splendid way to see the sights but it is the epitome of cool.

"I dig a pygmy by Charles Hawtrey and the deaf-aids. Phase One, in which Doris gets her oats."
(If you know it, you know it, if you don't, you never will)
"Tweezers", like "trousers" and "scissors" is a pluralised singular - it is one item, but the two arms of the tweezers make a pair, hence the 's' on the end. Still, the verb form, 'to tweeze', while accurate, is rarely heard in conversation.
Mrs Vinylsol and I met exactly 40 years ago today. This is what happens after living with me for nearly 40 years.
Out for coffee to celebrate an anniversary. We met forty years ago today.
๐๐ Very seventies!
