#gym thoughts: Miss my crew @ Pedal Spin in L.A so badly I recreated play lists from fave coaches & do workouts I remember. Long climbs. Interval sets. Steady race pace. During Covid I yelled the cues out loud while on my home bike trainer. Wannabe instructor. My classes are better than GoodLife’s.

Today in metadata librarian land: the bullet point outline for this paper has reached an astounding & unhelpful 36 pages. Sections assigned out to 4 co-authors. This happens when joining independently written section bullet outlines. An outline of outlines for a lead author to structure. How meta.

Gas in California is always more expensive. I moved back to ldont from Los Angeles in 2021 so my 1st hand knowledge is dated. We would see $5.75-$6.25 US during the summer and about $4.75-5.00 in winter. Friends report seeing $7.50 recently.

That’s frightening

Eeeeeew. City has a rat problem this year. Glad I sprung for super spendy tougher & tighter rat mesh around the foundation/wall when Skedaddle Humane Wildlife Control rid the Manor of field mice in ‘22. I saw a single one & hammered down before they could reproduce. Rats can f*ck right off.

Dalton Trumbo. Johnny Got His Gun. Read it in Gr. 9 and it effed up my head and mood for WEEKS. Remains the most depressing book I've ever read 40 years later. A work of beautiful genius that does what art is supposed to do.

Curiously, Shi et al article refers to 6 dimensions vs. 7. I'm thinking different interpretation is fine. The criteria are wobbly, there's overlap & redundancy. Western took 7 from their table of "what to ask for and where to look." Might the different count result from reading OA vs. final pub?

yeah. fundamentally the problem is lack of any enforcement on anything traffic or parking related. I can't remember the last time I saw a meter minder writing a ticket.

I reluctantly serve on the library AI working group (politics, optics for my dept, drew the short straw). I had to inventory the AI involved “features” in the Ex Libris modules being implemented in our LMS stack. F*cking 16. Sixteen!

Ugh. So sorry. We're prepping to begin negotiations with our employer again. We only avoided strike at 11pm on the last day last time. So incredibly stressful. May you stay as well as you can as this plays out.

Today in #metadata librarian land: in stacks at our storage location for the North/Nord Indigenous serials retention project. Boo. It's near boiler room, previously flooded, black mold space! Remind me to avoid gym in a.m. before I spend time on ladders pulling heavy bound volumes. Sore now :-(

Today in #metadata librarian land. I love it when MarcEdit saves me. I was toodling out a lil python script and remembered the MarcMerge. Did my task licksplittedly. I like programming but I like out of the box solutions way more.

#gym musings: women are stronger than you think. A 5’1” gal wowed me today with the # of plates on her barbell. Fun to watch while on the bike. PS my goal of 20 mins sustained 80% HR has hit 9.5 mins. Interval drills working as designed.

A long day,many interruptions on deadline, one necessitating spending all afternoon on a ‘splainy email, when you could deal with it in half hour face to face, because every one wants to work asynchronously to “save time”. Everyone’s but mine. It ended well with good folks and beer. I call it a win.
