overseas or further from sweden, you may need a better antenna. For me, a 10 meter wire hung across the yard hooked up to the input, and a ground connection for the ground was sufficient.

Since the transmit frequency is in the audible spectrum, it can be picked up directly using a sound card without any reception hardware. The only thing that's needed is a software that converts the 17.2 kHz pulses to the easily audible range and does some filtering:

On Tuesday, you can listen to the last remaining fully electromechanical #radio transmitter just using a computer microphone jack and a long wire (if you're in Europe).
It will start up to commemorate UN day, and will send a message using morse code.
The frequency is an absurdly low 17.2 kHz/
