@alextreacher
Enthusiastic about boardgames, science, science fiction, ferrets and loads of other things. I've been into the Traveller role-playing game for many years and always wanted to write stuff for it. Now, at last, I am! Space Weasel Productions, on DriveThru.

The book has been brewing for a while, and is actually the first one I started writing with a view to putting Traveller stuff on @drivethrurpg.com. Am excited to see it so close now, and looking forward to finalising it.
A huge "thank you" to the inestimable @biomassart.bsky.social for agreeing to do the artwork in it (and for being gracious with my suggestions for changes, tweaks and other stuff!)
Space Weasel, reclining in a deck chair, surrounded by computer monitors showing the work on book layout in progress.
The next Space Weasel book, Q-ships, is well on the way. I've been spending a lot of time over the past few days working on the layout, and getting into obsessive detail about tiny little things which likely would have escaped noticed anyway!

Alex and Kez, just before the wedding.
Alex and Kez, and Weasel. Two of them are now married (it's not Weasel!).
Weasel witnessing the deed.
We did a thing today. We got married, and it was a wonderful day, and even managed to dodge most of the rain. We've been together for long enough now that we should have done it ages ago, and are very pleased to say we've finally made it official.
Space Weasel was there too, of course!

Something is afoot. Space Weasel is excited and all dressed up. But why...?

Happy You-Know-What, everyone!
Good to see βconvention friendsβ again, and of course our visiting mates who stayed over. The games we played, at least the science fiction ones, included SETI, Galileo Galilee, and Underwater Cities (which isnβt in space of course, but is definitely SF-based).
Space Weasel came too, of course, and found some space and science-fiction themed games to investigate. Heβs calling it βresearchβ on his CV, I believe. And he met a fellow woolly friend there, on the adjoining game tableβ¦
Third or fourth time weβve been, and were joined by a couple of friends with whom we used to regularly game face-to-face before moving into the ruralities.

We had a very busy and very fun weekend last weekend. We went to GridCon (@gamingrules.bsky.social), which is a very good boardgaming convention, which has the benefit of being relatively close.

Do you like your #Traveller adventures set in a cynical world of cloaks and daggers, half-truths, half-lies and subterfuge?
If you are, then "The Extraction" may be for you. Polishing the text off now, taking on board feedback from the playtest at #TravCon. Polishing text now, art later.

So I definitely need to focus on a couple, and not try to do everything at once...!
Space Weasel sitting at a laptop, wondering how on earth he's going to get everything done!
My "get up and go" hasn't been great lately. I blame the lurgi I caught which really knocked me sideways. In trying to get back into writing shape, I reorganised some bits and made a "projects list" for the things I've got in various states for Space Weasel. Fourteen projects currently on the go!
Thanks for all the other referees, and players and organisers for making it happen, and making it fun.
Thanks to @mongoosepublishing.bsky.social for the chance to playtest the Pioneer scenario.
Already planning for next year...
Space Weasel rolls an eight in Pioneer. Which I trust is enough...
Space Weasel amidst the convention playtest of the new scenario.
In full flow. I can't remember what I was saying at this point. I don't even remember the photo being taken!
The convention playtest of the forthcoming Pioneer RPG by Mongoose. Liv doing a great job as Referee, and we enjoyed a very fun session.
We're back from #TravConUK, where we had a lot of fun, stayed up way too late, and played lots of #Traveller. Four games in about 30 hours, when I work it out.
Enjoyed all the sessions I played in, and the playtest of our new scenario seemed to go down well. Working on the feedback today.

Near future hard sci-fi is very much in my wheelhouse, so absolutely I was drawn to it. Great fun, and looking forward to rescuing those in need.

Space Weasel checking that the cargo hold is loaded before we launch.
Prepare jumpdrive for launch, Captain!
We've loaded up the cargo hold with everything we need for #TravConUK and have launched for the jump to Cambridgeshire.
Looking forward to seeing everyone else there again. And mildly nervous about running a game at a con for the first time.

Space Weasel sitting with the draft adventure for TravConUK, and some dice.
Overthinking? Me? Never!
Of course I need about forty pages of documentation for a three(ish) hour one-shot at #TravConUK! In my (slight) defence I've been writing it so that stuff for the full, publication version, is going in there too, not just the convention game.

Last couple of weeks have been quiet as I've been under the weather. Got a bug which has really slowed me down, and the doc has signed me off work.
Of course I'm stressing about getting the adventure for #travconuk finished.
But hopefully, it'll be all right on the night!

Space Weasel has just returned from what he calls "research" into the next #Traveller bestiary. He even put the air-quotes around the word, so I don't believe him. He just wanted to go and see bats.
Filmed at #ChesterZoo, whose exhibit of, and work with, Seba's and Roderigues bats is excellent.
More books are underway: a spaceship book (with art by Ian Stead), a second volume of the bestiary, and an adventure. There are ideas for other books too, but this is all on top of holding down a day job!

helmet and vaccsuit, he is now βSpace Weaselβ.
Iβve got two books on DriveThruRPG already: the first was a βd66 listβ of ideas for adventures, as I wanted something relatively simple to learn how to publish on DriveThru. The second one is a mini-bestiary with eight new creatures for Traveller
So, why βSpace Weaselβ? Weasel is a small knitted ferret which - in a complicated way - represents the four pet ferrets that my partner, Kez, and I used to have. Heβs a spirit of optimistic weaselly adventure, and accompanies us on holidays and to other fun places. Donning his goldfish bowl
Ferret - Butters, realising it is just too rainy to drive, and he can't reach the pedals anyway. Butters, piloting carefully in extreme weather conditions.
Ferret - Loki, posing for the camera.
Ferret - Mister Adventurous - reclining in a comfy bed. Mister Adventurous, having woken up, doubtless will be wondering about first breakfast. Or second breakfast.
Ferret - Sammy, sitting comfortably and being cuddled, looking inquisitive. Sammy, probably wondering what the all the fuss is.
is to create material for Traveller which respects existing canon and adds to it.
As an author, Iβve had articles published in various gaming and astronomy magazines over the years, as well as having collaborated in minor ways on the writing and publication of a wargame and a roleplaying game.
