#PolarVerlag #Buchsky #Booksky #Rezension
Iβm super excited to be included in this lineup. Hosted by the Roosevelt University MFA in Creative Writing. Mark your calendars now.
I first learned about Paul Cain from Woody Hautβs HEARTBREAK AND VINE, but I never actually got around to reading him. Thanks for putting this back on my radar!

The New Yorker panning THE WIZARD OF OZ when it first came out is in the Hall of Fame for bad critical takes. Total stinkeroo!
it is almost as if accommodating and conceding to far right ideas legitimizes them and signals to voters that the far right is a legitimate choice for governance
Happy 80th birthday to DETOUR, the only good movie ever made, unleashed on the world on November 15th, 1945.
βοΈGood morning.
I hope everyone has a great weekend.
*The Coffee Cup, Los Angeles, California (year unknown.)
My 3rd? time seeing SUDDEN FEAR, and itβs moved into the upper echelon of noir for me. Itβs top-tier: evil Jack Palance, wicked Gloria Grahame, suffering Joan Crawford. Great direction, cinematography, plot. Might also be the movie over which Crawford had the most creative control. What a flick.
I know many new writers worry about how readers will receive their work. Thatβs a valid concern! That said, two things:
1. This gig is only worth it if you write what YOU want.
2. Some will hate your stuff, but some will like it. Your readers. Theyβre awesome. Write for them.
Wrote a thing about agents. If youβre a new writer or are actively querying, hope this helps keep you safe!

All day, many of you have been asking for a Cheney obituary from me. Get ready:
dickerson is one of the best broadcast journalists in the game, and someone who would clearly be a real asset to a new leader interested in strengthening the network's journalism. but, of course, we know weiss isn't actually interested in journalism as such.
@thejudyroom.com Just finished reading this absolute treasure. It was delightful knowing details about backstage of the movies, the true facts about her issues with the studio/staff and how Judy always surpass them with her natural talent. How brilliant Judy was (and still she is)!

The famed swordfight on the beach between Errol Flyn and Basil Rathbone in CAPTAIN BLOOD (1935)
It was such a pleasure to write the essay for Criterion's 4K+Blu Ray of CAPTAIN BLOOD, a movie I dearly love. And for friends who love commentaries, note that this has one from Curtiz biographer (and fount of knowledge) Alan K. Rode @thetallcinephile.bsky.social www.criterion.com/films/29013-...
I'll be signing copies of YOU WILL NEVER SEE ME at The Mysterious Bookshop in New York City this Tuesday. If you're around, I hope you WILL come see me because I want to see you, damn it.
