Star Trek Deep Space Nine scene. A PADD is shown up close held by a pair of hands. (Kind of looks like an old palm pilot and if you're not old this will mean nothing to you)
The beautiful LCARS user interface is displaying the text, "GO AWAY."

It was going on one, two in the morning, and we were shooting what I felt was an important scene for me, when he makes an attempt to be quote-unquote straight, in a suit, and at the end of it he gets emotional and locks himself in the other room. And I felt like, I’m not getting what I wantβ€”I’m not happy with it. Mike was happy with it. He called me the next day and said, β€œI know you weren’t happy with the scene last night. Believe me, we wouldn’t have gone home if I had felt we weren’t getting it.” And then he sort of became my psychiatrist and said, β€œYou find it difficult to be happy, don’t you? You find it difficult to enjoy things.” And I said, β€œWell, sometimes. Last night was about feeling too tired and not feeling I was reaching what I needed to reach for the scene.” He talked to me then about when he was making, I don’t know whether it was Virginia Woolf or The Graduate. He said, β€œI didn’t enjoy it for a second. I was worried about so many things.” And then he said, β€œYou know, this is never going to happen again quite this way. You should try to allow yourself to enjoy this more. Take a minute a day, and then add a minute the next day, and another minute. Pretty soon, you’ll have hours of happiness.”

The Birdcage opened thirty years ago today, so in its honor, I want to share one of my favorite stories about Mike Nichols that didn't make it into my biography. This is from an interview I did with Nathan Lane.

One of the best Star Trek: TNG episodes analyzes this question, and let's just say you're not going to like how it is resolved.

This bit in the From Russia With Love game made me laugh out loud. You've got a fairly grounded, low key fight based on the one in the movie, then the most video game looking fucker of all time slides into frame.

Hi Bluesky friends, I’m ShouXin (手訫). I love drawing cats with simple lines.
This is my first post here, and I’m sharing four of my classic pieces.
I hope they bring you a little joy, and I hope you enjoy them.

There's three votes for anything on the supreme court. If trump said "I'm the god-king of arrakis" he'd get three votes and a lengthy opinion about the long history and tradition of english common law with regards to the spice melange

Always thought Duvall deserved landmark status, like a building or some great national park. His sturdiness and longevity always felt like that to me. Hell of a damn career. RIP

In regards to what’s going on at the Berlinale film festival, here is footage of Godard & Truffaut shutting down the 1968 Cannes Film Festival in solidarity with students workers & protestors getting brutalized by police in the streets, & probably Godard’s best line about film criticism ever

This year is a very special year for horror fans, because it's the first time in eleven years that three Friday the 13ths will be taking place in a single year!

That happens to be the maximum amount of Friday the 13ths that can exist in a single year, and it won't happen again until 2037.
