Yes it is a problem. But you don't need to change filters as often as you think. Gently vacuum it with small attachment and reuse. May reduce efficiency by few percent but not significantly.

Please get your staff to protect their patients and themselves.
Masks should be routine in healthcare.
And certainly during surges of respiratory infections.
Why the ostrich approach?

And no , not the best IAQ. Some areas are very crowded . Examination rooms are small and not well ventilated.

What is the Blindspot here.
At the very least , the cardiac and neurological units must be well aware of the ongoing number of covid complications in these areas. Just treating them while ignoring means to reduce them is shameful.

still shocks me at 51 yrs, what scientific knowledge & advances are taken up & which ones are intentionally ignored. this is sick kids. there are 100s of immunocompromised children in that hospital DAILY yet their employees refuse to mask. i get they have possibly the best iaq in the world BUT... 🤬.

Yes. But looks like transmission was from sailors on aid ships so likely aerosol

16.12.2025 16:26 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

There was also an experiment done in UK specifically on transmission which had various scenarios with infected volunteers. Would.havw to hunt it down. Basically they thought fomite was 1000 x less likely than airborne, but did very rarely happen .

Fomite transmission was v rare.
There was one church even 2020 where almost all could be accounted for by aerosol. But one person infected 4 hours later who sat in same church pew as index case had sat at. ? Did index case leave fomites on church pew when kneeling to pray?

Great graph. Is this published anywhere as is, or did you need to put data into graphic form?

At least in Canada I don't get stared at as if I came from a past century, and am never the sole masker in supermarket. Unlike the UK. Most illogical is that psychological pressure not to wear mask feels greatest in medical settings. Unless you say you are avoiding the flu! But not to avoid Covid...

Flu wave hits England's busiest A&E - hundreds of patients are arriving a day The BBC visits Leicester Royal Infirmary to witness first-hand how it's coping with an early surge in cases of winter bugs.

www.bbc.com/news/article...

"We are waving bleach around" is, say it again everyone, useless against airborne viruses. HEPA air purifier in every room and wearing masks - would actually help.
Please make this own-goal approach stop.

Her parents said she had a virus a few months before...
Which virus ?
'a virus' is the standard description for covid in the UK. We will never know of course.
The whole story is such a disaster on every level.

I’ll never forget the horror of the Covid wards | The Observer

Powerful piece by @drrachelclarke.com on the COVID inquiry. Those who say it’s easy to be wise in hindsight are being utterly disingenuous. Many of us spoke out at the time, and it’s in the public record.

Gas cooking can do it but 5000 is really high for that. Dry ice can do it , but you would hopefully notice that !!!

Either a short trip in a car with air recirculation on. Or a joker in the house breathing directly on detector for a couple of minutes (we got ours up to 5000 in 2 mins with 2 of us breathing fast on it!)

For outdated tests, we found that evaporation of the reagent is the issue. But you can use two vials to get enough liquid , then they seem to work fine. Sadly, adult kid positive recently, using old tests.

We are proud partners of this programme and delighted that the highly effective Blast and Blast Mini air filters will be in schools across London.

We hope other mayors and councils will help deliver filtration in schools across the country

Most importantly. The revised CSA standard is open for public comment until Aug 19. If you can only do 1 thing, please do the public comment via CSA. A guide for how to do this is available from @donoharmbc.bsky.social donoharmbc.ca

We are facing considerable pushback from jerks like Lilley & IPAC

Support a National Standard for N95s (and other respirators) in Healthcare The Canadian Standards Association is looking for public feedback on an update of a national standard for N95s (and other respirators).

There's a more fulsome instruction guide on how to comment on the proposed standard at donoharmbc.ca/national-sta...

Again, note that no other sector covered by the Z94.4 standard is attempting to undermine it in the way that IPAC managers are doing for healthcare. /6
