P.S. this will be Alberta next if we don’t stop Smith and the UCP from continuing on their bigoted, authoritarian rampage through public institutions. #ableg #abpoli

“House Republicans worked quickly to advance legislation to ban books from public schools nationwide. House Resolution 7661 (H.R. 7661), also known as the ‘Stop the Sexualization of Children Act’…” there’s a much more obvious way for you guys to stop the sexualization of children… just sayin

Just chased my greyhound around the backyard and successfully retrieved a deli salami the magpies dropped and he promptly tried to gulp down. The stamina, the determination, the bravery. The Olympics might be over, but I just achieved something great.

Absolutely!! And in case people want to know how much of a difference it makes, I would need to sell about 240 additional poetry books to make in royalties what I just received for PLR for the previous annual period. That is a lot of books to move in the poetry genre.

Yes, agree! And the ecosystem for success for authors who aren’t headliners very much includes the support of libraries! I always let folks know… hey, can’t drop $20.95 on a poetry book? I totally get it. Something free you can do that still supports me is to request it at your local library!

So let's be real, when Smith says you have to be a taxpayer to access our services, she is setting the scene to target immigrants, but also people who work for low wages who live in poverty, children, seniors, disabled people, the list goes on... this is so so dangerous. #Ableg #Abpoli #Cdnpoli

Corner of an envelope that shows the sender as Canada Council for the Arts Public Lending Rights Program.
Special day 😎 Last year I registered my debut book, Attic Rain, with the Canada Council for the Arts Public Lending Rights Program—a way for authors to be compensated for their books that appear in libraries across the country. Thank you, love your libraries, and keep funding the arts ✌🏽 #CanLit

U of A looks to remove EDI from hiring policy | CBC News
The University of Alberta is proposing to eliminate Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) from its hiring policy, a year after the school initially said it was moving away from the term.
New emails obtained by CBC through access of information show that before announcing the end of EDI at the University of Alberta, the president sent his announcement to the UCP before publication.
How's that for institutional neutrality?

It was transforming the biggest NFL stage in the world into a sugar cane plantation that did it for me.
Like, the multiple layers of turning an American icon into a plantation and highlighting the history of exploitation of Black and Brown bodies by the NFL and American colonialism simultaneously?
