CW: residential schools

CBC News issued a correction for a correct statement.

There have been remains found.

A fragment of a childโ€™s jawbonewas found at a site in Saskatchewan. The remains of aย child under five were found at a former school near Edmonton.

What Rosie Barton said was correct.

Caving to trolls is a great way to shoot yourself in the foot, CTV. Why not just add them to your editorial team and they can help with assignments and headlines and ensure no one is able to use their brain to describe objective reality again.

Here's what Pierre Poilievre said today: "Indigenous rights will remain in our control for all time."

That's a direct quote from the Conservative Party website.

Maybe he meant it a different way, but, uh "No". No, they fucking won't.

'Deeply hypocriticalโ€™: Pierre Poilievre slammed โ€˜illegal border crossers,โ€™ but his own relative crossed and stayed โ‹† The Breach Anaida Poilievreโ€™s uncle lived undocumented in Canada and received help from her and a MP. The Conservative leader has said such individuals should be โ€˜tracked downโ€™ and โ€˜deportedโ€™

Pierre Poilievre has bashed asylum seekers who crossed at Roxham Road and has pledged to โ€œtrack downโ€ and deport many of them.

Now it turns out his own relative did exactly thatโ€”and then got help from Anaida Poilievre and a MPโ€™s office to stay in Canada.

anyway calling these "war plans" when they were actually plans to blow up an apartment building full of civilians because the girlfriend of a guy we don't like lived there sounds more like "terrorism plans" or perhaps even more accurately "terrorism factory creation plans"

Text from a Guardian article reciting Mahmoud Khalil's remarks:

"In his remarks, Khalil said that in Louisiana, he wakes to โ€œcold morningsโ€ and spends โ€œlong days bearing witness to the quiet injustices underway against a great many people precluded from the protections of the lawโ€.

โ€œWho has the right to have rights?โ€ Khalil asked. โ€œIt is certainly not the humans crowded into the cells here. It isnโ€™t the Senegalese man I met who has been deprived of his liberty for a year, his legal situation in limbo and his family an ocean away. It isnโ€™t the 21-year-old detainee I met, who stepped foot in this country at age nine, only to be deported without so much as a hearing.โ€

โ€œJustice escapes the contours of this nationโ€™s immigration facilities,โ€ he added.

Khalil drew comparison between his current treatment in the US and the ways in which he said the Israeli government uses detention without trial to lock up Palestinians.

โ€œI was born in a Palestinian refugee camp in Syria to a family which has been displaced from their land since the 1948 Nakba,โ€ he added, referring to the expulsion of 700,000 Palestinians in 1948 after the creation of Israel.

โ€œI spent my youth in proximity to yet distant from my homeland. But being Palestinian is an experience that transcends borders. I see in my circumstances similarities to Israelโ€™s use of administrative detention โ€“ imprisonment without trial or charge โ€“ to strip Palestinians of their rights,โ€ he said.

โ€œI think of Gaza hospital director and pediatrician Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, who was taken captive by the Israeli military on December 27 and remains in an Israeli torture camp today. For Palestinians, imprisonment without due process is commonplace.โ€
