A 7th inning, two out walk with a runner on second and a 5-0 lead. Before that, a sac bunt that led directly to an insurance run.
PCA is maturing at the plate in real time. #Cubs might have something special here.
@ajbloomberg
#Sobriety & religious trauma inform a lot about me. #Cubs specifically, baseball generally. I also enjoy that football sport. Twin dad with a partner I adore. Trying each day to be a better human, even if my progress isn’t linear.

I hope CC hands Horton the ball tomorrow and lets him go 100+ if necessary. Treat it like a playoff game, let’s see what the kid can do in the 7th on.
Not every start rest of regular season. Just tomorrow. #Cubs need an Ace caliber power righty and there’s a very real chance he’s that.
Immaculate inning with all same pitch type, pitch-tracking era (2008):
Today Mason Miller, slider
6/15/22 Phil Maton, 4sm
3/30/19 Josh Hader, sinker
And yet I managed to watch it nonetheless.
Lol.
I have this weird notion #Cubs are gonna win this game, even after that absurd double play just now.
Damnit. This is good.
That HR by Nico is my absolute favorite #Cubs AB this year. It felt like the ghost of Ryno turning on that inside fastball.
I always thought that, best case scenario, Horton would be #Cubs Ace by 2027. At this rate it’s not impossible to see him as the most important piece of their playoff rotation this fall.
What if #Cubs resign Tucker & work out Ian Happ at 1B? He’d still play LF but also be the de facto backup/short-side platoon for Busch. Seiya continues to DH, and hopefully they resign Castro to be everyone’s backup.
Trade Kevin Alcantara+ for Sandy and immediately extend him.
Am I crazy?
What a day he’s having!
Willi Castro has shown his value today!
I will own up: I was wrong about Caissie. I know it’s impossibly early, but he clearly belongs in the bigs already. I was too impatient and wanted an Ace at the deadline. I would’ve traded him for Sandy Alcantara.
#Cubs *could* have both in 2026, and they don’t need to be desperate for Tucker.
I’ll take the pitch count on Woodruff after an inning. But PCA should’ve put down a safety squeeze; I don’t care he’s the 4 hitter, worst case would’ve been bases loaded with one out.
#Cubs vs #Brewers
#Brewers are on an impossibly wild run. Not just the current winning streak — since the end of May.
#Cubs have a 96% chance of making playoffs. Don’t worry about chasing Milwaukee. Win Sunday, take 3/5 next week, and secure the #1 WC.
I’m actually coming around, re: inactivity at deadline for SP. #Cubs are making the playoffs + ‘25 was never considered an all-in season.
If they sign Tucker this offseason they can center a deal for an Ace around ONKC.
This team has a chance to make a run. But the future is brighter.
Ryne Sandberg was my childhood hero. My love for baseball was inspired by watching him play.
Rest well, Ryno. And fuck cancer.
Boyd walks the first two batters he faces and not only escapes the inning scoreless, he does so in just 15 pitches?!
#Cubs / #Brewers three game set could be a helluva pitching fan’s dream:
- Miz debuting at home vs Cubs — against Boyd, who is having a Cy Young vote-getting campaign.
- Priester (quite underrated to date) vs former Brewer, Colin Rae.
- Peralta vs Shota, both angry after a bad outing.
What if Jed/Carter were so bold as to go get Sandy Alcantara *and* Mackenzie Gore?
#Cubs would be getting elite rotation additions for ‘25 and well beyond. If you know you can resign Tucker you can risk the prospect capital.
Caught in the moment, I’m fine with #Cubs hoping this Shaw turn is real. Get a capable, versatile piece for the bench that can serve as 3B insurance.
That said they need to be as aggressive as possible to land a true Ace — with control beyond this fall.
Joe Ryan and Mackenzie Gore rumors are intriguing. But I truly believe #Cubs should do everything they can to get Sandy Alcantara.
Dude just threw 7 innings of one run ball against #Padres — in what could be his last start with the #Marlins. He looks ready to be an Ace again.
Matthew Boyd is having a legitimate Cy Young campaign. I’m not saying he should (or will) win, but at the rate he’s going he could get several top five votes.
I still want #Cubs to get Sandy, and I bet he’d be their Ace by September.
Alcantara, Shota, Boyd, Taillon (or Horton?)
Never before in U.S. history has one man exercised such unbridled discretion affecting the lives of so many, while simultaneously preventing others — Congress, the courts, the American people — from having a say or even knowing what he’s going to do next.
This is dictatorship.
Boyd and Imanaga combine for 15 innings of one run ball ar #Yankee stadium.
#Cubs still need a TOR arm and a 4/5 at the deadline, but what a helluva way to go into the ASB.
Any politician who has never flown on the world’s most famous pedophile’s jet should call for a bipartisan committee to investigate — and then release — the Epstein files.
What a way to reach across the aisle.
Is 28 pitches thru three innings good?!
If you told me #Cubs would work Fried for 28 pitches and a run in the first I’d be elated.
If Boyd can have an efficient first against #Yankees this will look super promising.
The quick and dirty is that it’s a method of calculating a SP’s performance in a particular game. You get 50 points to start, and plus or minus points based on good (IP, K’s etc) and bad (walks, hits, ER.)
