Join us on March 16 to learn about MOVE history & a local curriculum project.
Explore how the government’s willingness to bomb schoolchildren, whether in Iran today or in the Philadelphia neighborhood of MOVE decades ago, reveals patterns of state violence. ⬇️

Beautiful, devastating writing
Owen Ramsingh was a member of my community. He is a father and husband. He is beloved here by so many. We want him back. ❤️
🧵 The ever-wise @bennjordan.bsky.social lays out an even-handed, clear articulation of why @proton.me’s defensive posture makes them less trustworthy and a way they could make their service more anonymous for paying users. ( @mullvad.bsky.social already does this.)

Tomorrow's Bandcamp Friday fundraiser will be for The Trans Continental Pipeline, helping trans folks leave hostile states (ahem, Kansas) for Colorado.
Data center tax breaks are costing Phoenix $12 million dollars a year.
A new audit says Arizona’s tax breaks for data center developers are costing Phoenix taxpayers the same amount as the city is spending on arts and culture initiatives and environmental programs put together.
Let's talk about how a random app on your phone that shows ads might be giving your location to the cops. Hundreds of apps have ads. Creepy surveillance companies participate in the "ad bidding" process, which can include your phone's location. This allows them to track your movements.
I don’t think this is an essential lawmaking function. Very not speech. Much not debate.
Stethoscopes hanging on a cross at the Alex Pretti vigil site in Minneapolis MN.
I stopped by his vigil site earlier today and it was bustling. I didn’t know that today was his birthday but I still left a heart-shaped whistle on the new alter made to display some of the art people have been leaving to memorialize him next to a collection of stethoscopes. He should still be here.
Burger King is launching an AI chatbot that will assess workers' "friendliness" and will be trained to recognize certain words and phrases like “welcome to Burger King,” “please,” and “thank you.”
The AI will be programmed into workers' headsets, according to @theverge.com.

solidarity with all marginalized people in Kansas.
you are not alone. together we are going to build the better world we all deserve.
MAKE AN EMERGENCY DONATION to Trans Continental Pipeline right now.
They are a Colorado based org that helps trans people relocate there and they are overwhelmed with requests. CO borders KS, and TCP has the infrastructure to help get people out.
GO DONATE.

Truly astounding as a trans person to watch your community be told we're not worthy of consideration by Democrats on Monday, be told to be silent and grateful all of Tuesday, and by Wednesday an entire state has criminalized trans citizens' existence.
As of tonight, licenses of trans people across Kansas are being invalidated en masse, enabling the overnight criminalization of an entire group of people for going about our lives. It’s often said you never know when you’re living through history, so let me assure you: that’s what’s happening now.
If you or someone you know has been held at Camp East Montana or another Texas detention center, you represent a client held there, or you've worked with or at a Texas detention center, @lomikriel.bsky.social is looking to talk to you.
The Texas Tribune has done a great job covering these places.
Organizing against borders can seem utopic, but there are many concrete fights:
1 Mutual aid networks
2 Rapid Response actions
3 Stopping PIC construction & budget fights
4 Ending agreements w/ local enforcement
5 Non cooperation of public institutions (hospitals etc) w/ immigration
6 Status 4 All
We had $18k in rent requests come in just today (so far).
We’re anticipating needs at our neighborhood school to be over $100k again this month, but this time donations are WAY down. We don’t have enough money to cover everyone.
Please help us keep our neighbors w/ young kids from being evicted!
The DHS has declared that fewer than 500 ICE agents are currently deployed in Minnesota. A force numbering in the hundreds is not a retreat. It is a tremendous presence in a single area, capable of inflicting mass terror, carrying out targeted abductions, and sustaining a climate of fear.

This 53 year old man who lived in my neighborhood w/no criminal record & who had been in the US for 30 years, was detained and thrown into a cold cell for days, caught pneumonia and COVID there and deported.
He finally died.
I am so angry.

This is a reminder that ICE is still in Minnesota, that people still can’t leave their homes, and that funds are starting to run dry.
Please donate if you can. Places like food shelves are struggling to meet the community’s needs.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.
