I absolutely recommend doing this if you enjoy exploring. there's something uniquely satisfying in drawing your own map, even when it's crap and barely makes sense

Played Metroid Fusion and Metroid Zero Mission over the holidays and so I had to check out the NES Metroid too. I played thru Nintendo online so I used the rewind to save time, but I didn't look anything up. Had to old-school draw a map, and it was so fun! It's a terrible map but it worked!

sorry abt the sudden Silksong rant. I've been playing again this evening after a long break, and I had a lot of fun! but I'm still mourning what could have been if it had had been better difficulty scaled and had less tedious crap, and maybe some QoL shit too

There's a lot of good stuff in Silksong! I just wish it wasn't buried under a bunch of tedious bullshit that I don't have the patience for. If I was an incredible gamer who could 1st try every challenge I might not feel that way, but I'm not! I'm just a lil idiot trying to play a lil game for fun

right. people seem to engage with things less nowadays, less proper coments and more just likes and emojis, if even that. Mostly just scrolling to the next thing. We're all chasing dopamine hits in a way we didn't really do before this "endless feed"+ "short video" era. It sucks

thanks! I hadn't even considered people in general being less excited about original stuff. is that really true outside of big media? I feel like small publishers and independent artsts are still putting out original stuff and finding an audience. But you're probably right that it's harder now

I don't think I trust my ideas to be strong enough to justify spending time on them. A bunch of old projects have grown really big, and that's fine if they're good, but what if they suck? and how do I tell the difference?

yess, it's always fun to play an area from a new perspective and I really like the mechanics for in in this one! Like being up on the rafters and seeing the bottom floor?? this game had so many details that gave me so much joy
