Saw the front page and just presumed it was from 10 yrs ago - had to zoom in to see the date. Nope.

You should read @alicefraser.bsky.social's lovely and sorrowful and human piece on Bondi Beach & then reflect that it's the sort of communication that's only possible when you don't view everything as an online argument that you have to win at all costs.

In one Tory manifesto, I think 2017, they referred to Britain and India has sharing "deep historical and cultural connections" and the Commonwealth an institution "we helped to found"...I write more about this in my book

Which in turn means that money goes direct to the big asylum contractors...
Also worth noting that funding of accommodation for those caught in backlog comes from foreign aid budget, so when HO complains it's costly, it's not coming from their pockets
Seriously, fuck Starmer and his hideous, ghoulish cabinet. From this grim decision to Streeting's anti-trans shit, they're just full of spite for vulnerable people. I truly hope they get wiped out at the next election and that the UK gets a proper progressive party in power(sharing?).
i wasn't gonna post about it but seeing that a LOT of people have declared UA's run with steph curry to be a failure and I think the total opposite I guess I should. look everybody, signature basketball shoes are a vestigial remnant of when hoop shoesβcurrent hoop shoesβwere the top of the market
Semi-serious response: Looking at when and why the personal pronoun was dropped in social media posts. As in: "delighted to announce" rather than "I'm delighted to announce". I don't think it's just a character limit thing, think it's also about footing/distancing, but I'm not sure...
Academics in Assyria in the 7th c BC complain that admin is preventing them from doing research and teaching
Actually, seeing a man of color, getting scared, and calling The Police, is pretty typical racist behavior
Yep, very much a process of burying the lede a lot of the time :)
Yep, and as expectations, buzz-words and zietgeisty concepts from funders change, you can be pulled down roads that a) don't interest you and, worse b) are not a specialist in.
Agreed, there's a lot of pressure to 'get money' but my research rarely needs it (time to research is another matter).
