Looking forward to Microsoft Office Wrapped telling me how many emails I received and sent this year
* relative term
Off to Govcamp Scotland today - looking forward to stepping back from the day-to-day, looking sideways at what others are doing/thinking, and having some engaging discussions on a summer-y day*
The Guardian website now requires horizontal scrolling (as well as vertical) to browse the current homepage - on mobile at least. It's carousels all the way down.
Cannot understand this design regression.
Have received *four* emails now asking me to review my customer experience of using a left luggage service that cost me about β¬3
Thinking of setting up a regional express delivery service. Will call it RegEx.
Filled a reusable bottle up from a free public frizzante water tap and this really is class
Might depend which ending you are going for?
Interesting reminder that mediums/platforms aren't neutral, and also how much some (most?) people have a relatively casual interest in music - vibes more than passion harpers.org/archive/2025...
For all its foibles and failings, I still find the ability to play a specific song or turn on a light by simply *saying those words out loud* a little bit magical
Hi Neil! Sorry we didn't manage to say hello properly in person. A full-on day! Hope you're keeping well π
Things that scale will exacerbate existing harms - one articulation of risks associated with new AI technologies (something that was also relevant to the previous wave of 'digital' transformation in the last couple of decades #ukgc25

Looking at the first time slot alone and I have a 6-way tie of sessions I want to go to. The FOMO is real! #ukgc25
First time back in person at #ukgc25 since before the pandemic - excited!
Interested in *sensible* routes of enquiry for "AI" in improving public services, which I imagine will be a common theme.
Yeah for sure, my response there was guilty of reading and responding to a couple of related things that were more grift-y and less on point. Thanks for sharing the article!
Now completely in knots over the boundaries of machine learning and 'AI'
I mean, the image analysis part here yes of course, but the broader discussion sprawls out into tenuous examples
The terminology is woolly - is taking photographs of roads 'AI'? Good idea, good use of technology, but AI seems to increasingly mean anything done with computers.
Having to search for something using a remote to hunt and peck the letters on a smart TV app is an experience that can surely be improved?
Vicky was one of those fantastic people who makes the 'public sector design/digital/etc' community the best of what it is. I never worked with Vicky but was still privileged to benefit from her perspective and knowledge, in writing and at conferences/meetups. She was so generous with it.
January inspiration is definitely the ticket!
Drifted away from using Twitter very much last year, but start of a new year seems an appropriate time to put in the effort of setting up a profile on here. Hope it's not too much hassle!
