The only thing that could have saved you is if you never arrived at all.

Once you realize this place is alive, you're already in its mouth. Perhaps even in its belly. You just have to hope that it won't swallow you up before you can find an exit.

One thing (among several) that fascinates me about the concept of eldritch locations, especially those demonstrating intelligence of sorts, is that you're really only made aware of their presence when you're close to it—usually, at that point you're too close.
