The NBC Tour de France coverage continues to be awful. I long for Eurosport but watching live is challenging even on tiz.

When I say we could solve our housing problem right now, with no additional technology, no additional knowledge - we could just do it. Immediately. Starting tomorrow.

We haven't because they just don't want to. Capitalists and politicians conspire to make sure you stay afraid of homelessness.

Thank you, Eric! You graciously accepted an out-of-the-blue request to play our wedding and threw down one of the best sets I’ve ever heard. A phenomenal performance which made an incredible day even better. Can’t say enough. 🕺🏻💃🪩

Adam Curtis HyperNormalisation HD YouTube video by Justin D

I highly recommend the 2016 Adam Curtis documentary ‘Hypernormalisation’. (content warning: violence, profanity and Donald Trump). Really helped me understand how we got to now.

What does China offer that the United States doesn't?
Small hands, a massive, seasonal work force and millions of engineers.
Young Chinese women have small fingers, and that has made them a valuable contributor to iPhone production because they are more nimble at installing screws and other miniature parts in the small device, supply chain experts said. In a recent analysis the company did to explore the feasibility of moving production to the United States, the company determined that it couldn't find people with those skills in the United States, said two people familiar with the analysis who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
China has millions of people who migrate around the country to work in factories as Apple revs up production around a new iPhone. They often work from the summer until Chinese New Year, when production slows down, so Apple's suppliers don't have to pay them for a full year of work. They live in dormitories connected to factories

In the year of our lord two thousand twenty-five, guys named Tripp Mickle still write racialized nimble finger stereotypes into the pages of the New York Times. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/23/t...

Most of my colleagues, too, follow the data and report what their findings indicate or show, however politically incorrect. A few examples: Race has some biological reality. Marriage reduces crime. So does hot-spot policing.
Racism has been in decline. Phonics is essential to reading instruction. Trigger warnings can do more harm than good. Africans were active in the slave trade. Educational attainment is partly in the genes. Cracking down on drugs has benefits, and legalizing them has harms. Markets can make people fairer and more generous. For all the headlines, day-to-day life at Harvard consists of publishing ideas without fear or favor.

amazingly fucked up that the NYT is uncritically publishing the claim, “Race has some biological reality.”

that is, definitionally, racism. textbook.
