Fantastic canvassing session yesterday in Claygate. Lots of support on the doorstep for local candidate, Andy Burton.
Residents know that the choice in the Hinchley Wood, Claygate and Oxshott by-election on 21st August is between Lib Dem Andy, or yet another Conservative.

@keirstarmer.bsky.social !!
Don't keep our broken First Past the Post electoral system.
It doesn't work for *any* party & will split & waste even more votes.
#distrust & #alienation
We need a national commission now!

John Prescott was a politician both behind and ahead of his time. Considered too bluff and old Labour to reach to the very top in the 90s, today his authenticity and class credentials would have been perfect to fight Farage and populism. Labour needs more like him.

Morning Bluesky.
The count now shows Trumpβs margin of victory (popular vote and EC) is the third smallest since 1888 - JFK in 60 and Nixon in 68 were smaller. If 238k votes in the blue wall states had been different, he would have lost. Analysis by Time. Definitely not a landslide.

'Donald Trump's Election Means Reversing Brexit Is Now More Urgent Than Ever'
For the sake of Britain, Europe and humanity, itβs time for us to get back with the European team, argues Mike Galsworthy

Trumpβs election in the US now exposes the geopolitical weakness of a Brexited UK.
Weβll enter an existential battle as to whether to roll in with Trump or the EU. Trying to navigate the middle ground is a foolβs errand.
We must choose the EU.
