A big fat "YES" to all of this.
And count me as a fellow "in medias res" hater.
Exactly! Look at this shit. The Washington Post doesn't exist anymore. Bezos killed it. This is why we need to throw these pubs in the garbage and stop referencing them. They're not real anymore. You learn nothing and get fed shit.
Destroyer is a fun time with Conan but it's more of a kid's movie than the first.
Embargo seems to be up. Project Hail Mary is the crowd-pleasing, hope-giving, big A-list movie-movie we donβt get much anymore. Scope is massive and the humor is on point, keeping the dire stakes from being overwhelmingly bleak. Iβd lie, cheat, steal, kill, and die for Rocky.
Conan the Barbarian is one of my favorite movies, and probably my late fatherβs favotire film right next to Blade Runner. My dad loved the Conan series (books and films) always wanted to see King Conan on the big screen. Hoping this gets made so I can watch it for him.
So now I know what idiotfluencers were talking about when they were saying "Boy Kibble" and it's just dirty rice?
Are they going to rediscover Hamburger Helper and noodle kaboodle from first principles next?
The drive-in will never die, but Joe Bob Briggs and Darcy the Mail Girlβs time with THE LAST DRIVE-IN on Shudder is coming to an end. We thank them for seven seasons worth of memories.
We all know how this ends. Once bsky goes down I'll probably be done with social media.
Ads and racist algorithms are coming.
That took a while (it's on Tubi, had to watch ads and I paused it to take lunch). Next up is The Wraith (1986), which I *think* is horror and I don't think I've seen this before.
After a brief hiatus I'm back on the horror train. Today's film is Dracula aka Horror of Dracula (1958). I think I've seen this film but it was when I was a kid at my grandparents house.
Map snapshot depicting the predicted relative anomalousness of surface temperatures from the ECMWF ensemble over the Western U.S. in about a week from now. A a huge region of bright orange and red colors (depicting extremely high warm temperature anomalies) is centered right in the middle of the map, and covers essentially the entire region.
Lots of buzz online about an upcoming major March heatwave for the American SW & California. And in this case, it does indeed appear increasingly likely than an extremely anomalous and even record-breaking heatwave may envelop much of the SW about a week from now.
Exactly. Everyone knows Trump poisons everything he touches. I had hoped when we escaped his first term we dodged a bullet but then he was voted back in. He may very well take this country down with him this time.
I hate that entire groups are being prevented from existing in mainstream art because of roughly 200 shrill lunatics who can't be normal about anything.
βPretty soon, youβll have hours of happinessβ π
Per usual they are lying to their audience in order to protect Dear Leader. And they know their audience doesnβt care
ask me what i learned in college and i wonβt recite academic knowledge β iβll tell you βit taught me how to think criticallyβ
Happy International Women's Day! 12 days til we premiere on Shudder, the countdown is ON π¨π¨π¨
Without Debraβs support, encouragement and guidance, I wouldnβt have become a producer. #DebraHill was one of my heroines, and I was blessed to have her as my mentor. I miss her so much.
ffs fuck off with this shit
Now that Timothy Chalamet has brought opera into the national conversation, if you haven't been to one before, it's fun! The LA Opera is great because you can dress up, but also go casually if you want. Also you can get tickets around the $40-50 range.
The first two pages of the Logan: Black, White & Blood story I wrote that comes out this Wednesday in issue #3. Can't wait until it hits certain corners of the internet...
When people got mad at that girl on Twitter for being happy she was having breakfast with her husband
Whenever "engagement" or "going viral" became more important than shame.
THREAD: I got laid off from NYMag/Vulture after 14 years. The family lost 75% of income + medical. Now mzs.press bookstore, once a side project. is do-or-die for Judith & I. I feel weird telling you this because others are doing much worse. But if you could like or share this, we'd be so grateful!
Fuckin hell thatβs awful. So sorry, Matt.
Iβm doing a panel on horror in Vegas! If youβre around and able to attend check us out!
