#OTD 9 March 1765 After a campaign by the writer Voltaire, judges in Paris posthumously exonerate Jean Calas of murdering his son. Calas had been tortured and executed in 1762 on the charge, though his son may have actually committed suicide.

When Charles de Gaulle pushed French military independence other Europeans wanted to just rely on the US & save money. Turns out you cannot have political independence without military independence.
France imports only 10% of arms from the US. The UK imports 70% of its arms, Germany 60%, Italy 40% from the US. While the US runs out of weapons carpet bombing Iran, many of its allies fear they won't receive their weapons. This isn't a problem for France.

It's safe to say every war Israel fights is a war on Gaza. Every conflict they have with other countries will include rockets, sniper fire and/or a blockade against Gazans while the world is distracted.
