Partial remains of 12 Canadian soldiers of the First World War returned by museum in Philadelphia - Canada.ca Partial human remains of 12 Canadian soldiers โ€“ medical specimens collected during the First World War โ€“ have been returned by a museum in Philadelphia.

Well this is interesting and unexpected. I'd recommend reading Tim Cook's Lifesavers and Body Snatchers if you're interested in background info on the practice. ๐Ÿ—ƒ๏ธ #cdnhist

Why We Need to Study the Black Founders Who Shaped U.S. Democracy (Opinion) Americaโ€™s founders werenโ€™t just old, white men in wigs.

Important read from LaGarrett King on U.S. 250th. "If we restrict our definition to those founders, we ignore the contributions of women, Native Americans, the poor, and Black people who were excluded from these gatherings by racism, sexism, and classism." www.edweek.org/teaching-lea...

The cover of the trade paperback edition of the first volume of Gotham Central.

โ€œGotham Centralโ€ (2002-06) by Ed Brubaker & Greg Rucka with art by Michael Lark was a police procedural set in Batmanโ€™s Gotham City. It was an innovative and influential revisionist story, underscoring and reframing the human costs of the superheroism. 1/7 #GothamCentral #Batman #ComicsStudies

Reminded, recently, of a couple of COVID CPD sessions that I put together 4 Sam Jones at BeBold History on teaching historical interpretations back in May and June 2020. If you're interested in teaching about differing perspectives on the past, the recordings might be 4 U.

Cannot recommend this book highly enough: it takes history education seriously and is a history of ideas about it - itโ€™s also a powerful philosophical enquiry.

In 1890, Expresses left Halifax at 1.30pm and arrived at Lรฉvis at 10.40am the following day - about 20hrs of travel time. But how often was it on time? LAC has govt railway logs for the period, so I suppose average performance could be (maybe has been) calculated.

Teaching History is a journal published by @histassoc.bsky.social and read by thousands of teachers. (Is that the right 'number'?)
