If you’re a member of the disability community or someone who lives in a food desert (for example) & If this day is YOUR day to get groceries delivered or your only day off in the week to run necessary errands, then it’s okay to sit this one out!
There will be many, MANY future opportunities for you to resist oppression. But, as this is a marathon and not a sprint: Guilt and/or shame will wear you down faster than anything else.
So it’s okay to do what you need to do to take care of yourself and your loved ones ...even if it happens to conflict with one (or a few) resistance event(s). We’re still in this together. We’ve got you.
PSA on resistance: A lot of groups are coming up with great ideas to help resist with...well, you all know what’s going on here in the U.S. So I just wanted to say a little something to anyone in a marginalized group...
If a suggested way of resisting conflicts with your own accommodations in life and/or violates your sense of safety, it’s OKAY to SIT THAT ONE OUT. For example: Today (02/28/2025) is the first economic blackout. If you can participate, absolutely do! But...
A little PSA just in case some resistance ideas really can't apply to you -- for reasons of dealing with your own social oppression.
