Two friends sent me Onyx Storm and a bookmark instead of flowers when my Dad passed- they called it literary therapy. I think I’m going to start doing the same thing when my friends or family are going through a hard time. Books and reading are self-care.
I do this with authors, too. I read one book I really like, then the whole series, then everything they’ve published.

I never got to say goodbye to my Dad. He passed away 30 minutes before I got to the hospital. COVID-19 induced encephalopathy. Please get vaccinated. Please wear masks or just stay at home if you don’t feel well.
Today I’m going to the hospital to say goodbye to my Dad. I wish there was a way to convince people to wear masks around the elderly and immunocompromised. They aren’t “owning the libs” or proving their undying support for Supreme Leader. They’re sentencing people to death.

You know what would have been cool? Normalizing mask wearing so my 83 year old dad didn’t lay on a gurney in the ER hallway with stroke symptoms, heart issues, and COVID. My parents wear masks religiously- there were several people diagnosed with COVID there who still refused to wear a mask.

We took soon-to-be promoted big brother puppy to meet prospective little sister puppy at the local animal shelter last night. She bopped him on the nose at least 3 times, so I think she has the “little sis” thing down pat. T-minus 8 hours and we’ll be a family of 4….
