Thanks dude!!
Drew this Sugimori style piece to commemorate PokΓ©mon Day a couple days ago.
PokΓ©mon has been as present in my life as Godzilla has so thereβs no wondering why itβs had such an impact on my development as an artist and even as a person. So much fond nostalgia for this series.
Sig with my two faves
Had a lot of fun coming up with this Showa-inspired design for @ghostxghost.bsky.social. I was pretty much given free reign on this so long as it was βretroβ so I took the opportunity to depict a scene from one of my favorite Godzilla films ever β΅οΈπ¦
Oops forgot I should be posting on here. Standby
Not if I can help it
I blame Bluesky

Huge shout out to my buddy @smittyscribbles.bsky.social for his help laying down flat colors for me.
From the start I knew I wanted to make this feel like a special you would catch on Toonami, given the nature of these characters and the story. To that end I tried my best to evoke the aesthetic and vibes of 2000s action cartoons and anime.
Bagan vs Monster X (a comic Iβve been working on for the better part of a year now with @gigabowserg ) is finally unleashed upon the world and I finally have a moment to post about it! This was a huge labor of love from @nifanatic.bsky.social and I did my best to execute his vision.
Oof I wanna give this a shot. Commenting to come back to this

(Shared on Twitter but wanted to share here) In honor of Godzillaβs 70th birthday I wanted to share some of the opportunities Iβve had to leave my own mark (officially) on this colorful franchise. Hereβs to 70 more years and (hopefully) many more chances for me to tag along:
Thank you so so much! Iβve been trying to prioritize feeling over function in my work as of late so Iβm glad these Pikmen are indicative of that
Hope youβve enjoyed these! I plan on taking what Iβve been learning from studying my masters and applying it in my future work so keep an eye out on my page and give me a follow if you feel so inclined!
For this Pikmin set I used a watercolor brush to try and get closer to the Sugimori aesthetic. For the baby Snagret I pulled a bit from Terryl Whitlatch; another of my favorite watercolor artists.
Canβt forget Lapras!
For these I went with a marker brush because I wanted to emulate the look of those old PokΓ©mon coloring books that I used to color as a kid.
I want to use Bluesky as sort of a new launching point and only post my new/original work but I really wanted to share these Ken Sugimori style studies Iβve done because Iβm still really excited about how they turned out.
Iβll post some closeups in the replies
This is phenomenal

PokΓ©mon Atomic Blue
Coincidentally itβs not the one that made it into a movie.
Thank you so much for that π₯Ή
Iβm honored π
