We call on educational leaders across the state to resist policies that treat transgender students as second-class. All young people—including transgender youth—deserve access to sports programs that affirm who they are and foster belonging.

This policy is not rooted in fairness, but in fear—a knee-jerk response to escalating political pressure that threatens the civil rights of transgender students. By creating a "third category," CIF undermines the lived identities of trans youth and sets a dangerous precedent.

As an organization committed to the dignity, safety, and full inclusion of LGBTQ+ youth, Unity Conejo strongly opposes the California Interscholastic Federation's recent policy shift that effectively segregates transgender athletes from their peers.
