Jorge Santana β Feeling Good (1979). Nice track that leans into the funk and complete with a disco breakdown, from the second solo album by Carlos Santana's brother. Written by New Orleans music legend Allen Toussaint, who began his career in the late 1950s. #vinyl
Gwen Pressley and Portable Patrol β Running (1984). Longtime want now in my collection. Amazing disco boogie track which also features a longer club mix on the flip. #vinyl
Kishore Kumar & Asha Bhosle β Intaha Ho Gai Intezar Ki (1984).
Kishore Kumar & Asha Bhosle β Intaha Ho Gai Intezar Ki (1984). Hindi film soundtrack Sharaabi gives you that uptempo disco with instrumental break beats. Found this LP several months ago among a pile of Indian albums. When you are out digging, records find you. #vinyl
Aatny Binger
Paris Ford featuring Gina Lewis β Roll A Skate (1979/2026). Unissued funk jam landed this week, recorded during the height of the roller-disco era. Epsilon Records @epsilonrecordco has uncovered a special treat from the New York bass player. #vinyl
Harvey Birdman is right up there with The Simpsons, Futurama and Duckman.
94 East featuring Prince β Just Another Sucker (1977/1995). This track didn't see the light of day until 1985, released to capitalize on Prince's Purple Rain success. I'm guessing AndrΓ© Cymone is on bass. #vinyl
94 East featuring Prince β Just Another Sucker (1977/1995). Pressed on wide grooves, this 12" features the full version and radio edit of the Purple One's 1977 recordings with the Minneapolis funk band formed by PepΓ© Willie. #vinyl
Top Secret β Call Me (1979). One-off disco studio project from Quebec's top musicians and vocalists. Mixes well with George McCrae's Rock Your Baby. #vinyl
Correction: Knockin' On My Door.
Barbara Fowler β Knockin' At My Door (1985). Great uptempo disco from the mid-'80s, co-written and produced by Eric Matthew (Joseph Tucci), one of the two names behind Gary's Gang β the other being Gary Turnier. Fowler was a part of disco band Sparkle and studio group Sinnamon. #vinyl
Butts Band β Get Up, Stand Up (1975). A funkier take of Bob Marley's classic, by two former members of The Doors. #vinyl
Chicago Gangsters β Music For The People - Pt. 1 (1976). Funk 45 taken from the Akron, Ohio, band's second LP, Gangster Love. #vinyl
Sound Troupe β Can You Really See Me (1982). Recent disco pickup that may have been influenced by The Police's Voices Inside My Head. #vinyl
Funkadelic β You'll Like It Too (1981). After a messy split with George Clinton in the late 1970s, original '60s Parliaments members Fuzzy Haskins, Calvin Simon, and Grady Thomas recorded under Funkadelic with no creative association from Dr. Funkenstein himself. #vinyl
Alphonse Mouzon β When We Were Young (1982). #vinyl
Alphonse Mouzon β When We Were Young (1982). Excellent modern soul instrumental with a nice drum intro. It definitely shares similarities with Linda Clifford's Never Gonna Stop. #vinyl

June Millington β I'll Keep Holding On (1981).
June Millington β I'll Keep Holding On (1981). Is it soul? Is it AOR? Yacht rock? The guitarist began her music career with bassist sister Jean in the all-female rock band Fanny. #vinyl
William Bell β Passion (1985).
William Bell β Passion (1985). Under the radar boogie, funk and soul album released on the Stax legend's own record company, Wilbe Recording Corporation. I posted a while ago on Instagram β can't remember if I shared it here β his 7" promo containing another boogie jam, That's What You Get. #vinyl

Venus Dodson β Where Are We Headed (1979). While the title track Night Rider is considered a classic on the disco dance floor, I'm digging this track co-written by boogie legend Leroy Burgess. Besides producing and arranging the song, Burgess also played keyboards and provided backing vocals. #vinyl
The Tymes β To The Max (Imum) (1976). Longtime soul vocal group incorporated disco into their repertoire by the mid-'70s. There's a nice instrumental break later, with help from bass player Wilbur Bascombe, guitarist Cornell Dupree, drummer Bernard Purdie, and percussionist Ray Barretto. #vinyl
The Billion Dollar Band β Money Don't Grow On Trees (1977). Some members of the band played on the Timmy Thomas soul album Gotta Give A Little Love (Ten Years After) in 1984 before it appears they went their separate ways.
