Itβs also insidious bc it drums up animosity towards religious minorities. Someone who doesnβt celebrate Christmas feeling a little grumpy about it doesnβt hurt anyone, but the War on Christmas wants people to believe this non-Christianβs existence is a huge threat to their own ability to celebrate
I understand that a lot of folks have been misled by fear-mongering and powerful regressive voices but itβs still astonishing to me that so many have fallen for the idea that oppressively policing other peopleβs gender identity and expression could in any way be part of an enlightened future.
I know this doesnβt help the actual situation of trying to buy a blazer, but know that short cis men also have the problem of trying to buy clothes and everything is too long! Clothes are made for some imaginary average person and basically no one is having a good time π

Art piece of a digital drawing in white ink against a black background of a skunk as seen from an angle and above so that the double white stripe along its back and the sides of its tail is visible. It is sniffing at a bunch of simply-drawn daisy-like blooms in blue, pink, and white to echo the colors of the trans flag. There are more flowers scattered around the image.

New: Tim Walz told me βitβs a mistakeβ for Democrats to abandon trans people after 2024. βAnd here's the thing: we need to tell people your cost of eggs, your health care being deniedβ¦has nothing to do with someone's gender.β

Reposting from Twitter: My pie-in-the-sky wish for media literacy is for people to be able to watch problematic media and interrogate the culture and space it comes from instead of using them as vehicles to vacuously express that they've heard of an assortment of moral principles at some point

I really think we need to all be okay with the fact that shitty thoughts exist. Social media tried to convince us that every thought that forms in our head should be shared with the largest megaphone we can find, but actually some thoughts... should just stay thoughts.
I think thereβs a lot of fraughtness in the air right now around trying to be a βgood personβ and itβs causing us to talk less and maybe think less about the fact that being a good person generally refers to actions, not feelings or First Thoughts. Gut reactions will happen! But then what?
