The worst part was, when one was cut down, the black goo would leave its body, revealing civillians. Innocent, normal people. And then, it would begin to crawl across the vegetation, reaching upwards towards the coming threat.

The dragon descended, absorbing each hostless alien.

The horde, despite their collective strength and numbers, fell all too easily. Not without struggle entirely, of course, as they left their fare share of marks on the mutant.

The dragon drew nearer, each beat of its wings matched to another ragged breath of a symbiote.

Behind them, one readied half a tree trunk to batter the mutant with, while another 5 dropped the carcasses they'd fed upon to charge in on all fours. They'll be within striking distance in seconds.

Overhead, wings began to flap as something else entirely closed in.

The horde responded in kind, spiral-laden faces becoming blackened blurs of gnashing teath as they pounced like beasts at Victor.

Their strength and speed were no match, of course, but their numbers were great.
