Workshop for Professional Novelists - Sandusky, Ohio, 2026 | The World of Cat Rambo The Wayward Wormhole presents a workshop for professional writers with Donald Maass and Charles Coleman Finlay, September, 2026, in Sandusky, Ohio.

Oho very intriguing -- @catrambo.bsky.social is putting on a workshop for people less interested in early-career workshops and more for "I'm already published and I wish to level up with Massively Amazing Experts"!

Yesterday I woke up without neck pain or a headache β€” both unfortunately common right now despite massive efforts on my part to trial and error solve them including PT and meds and all sorts of things β€” and I was a different person.

Today not so much.

It’s illuminating on so many levels.

I love how my brain β€” accustomed to seeing price tags for this administrationβ€˜s follies being in the hundreds of millions or in the billions β€” thought, β€œwell at least $3 million is not THAT much” as if that is anywhere close to true in real life.

i guess i do have tr*mp derangement syndrome.

Hi everyone.

If every single one of you seeing this post considered clicking β€œfollow” on our new account/movement, @urbantruth.bsky.social, our work would start regularly reaching a BIG audience, and that’s KEY to us having the REAL IMPACT we hope this initiative will have.

Thanks for considering!

How does moving your account solve the problem of changes at Bluesky making the user experience worse? this is the piece I’m not understanding. eg if I move to eurosky I get my account is on a different server but does that change my user experience if Bluesky itself changes moderation / algorithm?

somehow I missed this but UGH.

I’ve been using Wordpress since 2002.

Really don’t want to have to adapt now…

Paramount's Takeover of Warner Bros Is Turning Into an International Crisis Going to war with Iran has suddenly brought China back into the mix on the sale.

the "The Saudis and Chinese are buying up our media companies and sending american kids to die in trump's war while you overpay for gasoline" dem messaging writes itself but they'll still find a way to fuck it up

This is so shitty and disrespectful. Marisa fought for MONTHS to get access to this information and NBC sliding in to try to scoop her is unprofessional and shameful. Seeing mainstream outlets consistently use her reporting, including her FOIA work, with no credit is galling.

I like this solution because it would end the debate over whether standard or daylight time is better and also (just for fun) match us up with India.

It was going on one, two in the morning, and we were shooting what I felt was an important scene for me, when he makes an attempt to be quote-unquote straight, in a suit, and at the end of it he gets emotional and locks himself in the other room. And I felt like, I’m not getting what I wantβ€”I’m not happy with it. Mike was happy with it. He called me the next day and said, β€œI know you weren’t happy with the scene last night. Believe me, we wouldn’t have gone home if I had felt we weren’t getting it.” And then he sort of became my psychiatrist and said, β€œYou find it difficult to be happy, don’t you? You find it difficult to enjoy things.” And I said, β€œWell, sometimes. Last night was about feeling too tired and not feeling I was reaching what I needed to reach for the scene.” He talked to me then about when he was making, I don’t know whether it was Virginia Woolf or The Graduate. He said, β€œI didn’t enjoy it for a second. I was worried about so many things.” And then he said, β€œYou know, this is never going to happen again quite this way. You should try to allow yourself to enjoy this more. Take a minute a day, and then add a minute the next day, and another minute. Pretty soon, you’ll have hours of happiness.”

The Birdcage opened thirty years ago today, so in its honor, I want to share one of my favorite stories about Mike Nichols that didn't make it into my biography. This is from an interview I did with Nathan Lane.

Fun fact, airports receive most of their nutrients from the arriving airplanes. They extend their feeding tubes or "jetways" and extract the plane milk directly from the airplane's gills.

The study investigated the relationship between neighborhood design ...

The Desire for Terror And the defense of democracy

A purpose of the war on Iran might well be to provoke a terrorist attack inside the United States. This would provide Donald Trump with a pretext to try to cancel or β€œfederalize” the coming Congressional elections.
