So, at 10pm, 18yo walked over with me to see if I could find it...

Grabbing some coffee beans at the grocery store.
Cashier: “You know, it’s not actually cheaper to make coffee at home. Once you factor in having to buy milk, and other stuff, it’s cheaper to get a coffee out.”
Me: “I don’t think that’s…are you working undercover for Starbucks or something?!”

It was a good night for a walk. Rained most of the day. Unusually warm and windy. Last of the snow is melting, things are waking up.

My husband broke the silence,“Rather sultry voice for a Spirit.”

“How are you?”
“Good”
All without breaking stride. All without making eye contact. If they had eyes. I couldn’t tell. It was so dark. Their shape was indiscernible, shifting.
We didn’t stop moving, but didn’t speak again until we were completely across the water.

We continued at the same pace, and it became obvious the figure was moving towards us, but no clearer.
We finally came upon them and I still couldn’t make out anything about them. “Hello!” I said, in passing, and a surprisingly clear voice from the most mysterious shadowy figure, responded

Out for a late night stroll, crossing a foot bridge in the dark and my husband goes, “I think there’s someone ahead of us on the bridge”. I was squinting, trying to see and eventually could just make out a shadowy figure.Couldn’t tell if it was moving towards us or not.
”Human or Spirit?!” I joked.

The only thing I can come up with is “Nero” for the colour black in Italian.

I‘m guessing it’s actually spelled “Nero” from Italian, meaning black, which sounds like “narrow”. So, works both ways for a black dachshund!

Spotted a guy walking a wiener dog in our neighbourhood that I haven’t seen before.
“What’s your Dog’s name?!”
“Narrow”
“Oh, that’s perfect!”
“Yeah, some people understand it’s because of his colour. It’s spelled different than what you’re thinking.”
“Ahh! Okay” (me feeling like an idiot)
