#OpenCloning is shaping up to be a really useful tool, and the new Assembler is powerful for defining and using Golden Gate syntaxes. Give it a try!
Pombase gene page with an arrow pointing at the link to OpenCloning
🚀 Update from @pombase.bsky.social!
Gene pages now link to OpenCloning. Load the gene region instantly and design primers + cloning strategies in one click 🧬🧪✨
To get started with OpenCloning, check the docs: docs.opencloning.org

Here's an important and topical perspective from Nektarios Tavernarakis. Wise words!
PomBase introduces two new interactive views for GO-CAM pathway models: Summary Maps (high-level, visual overview) and Mega-Models (connected models). Check them out here: lnkd.in/gfxNRdua
Well this is interesting: Psilocybin treatment extends cellular lifespan and improves survival of aged mice
Guess all of us older adults need to stock up on mushrooms!!!

Superhappy to share the last paper from my PhD in @litinice.bsky.social lab. We evolved yeasts with humanized telomeric repeats and discovered that they adapt through amplification of telomere-binding proteins and inactivation of the DNA damage response.

After 25 years, it was wonderful to reunite with all members of our original research group!
FlyBase needs your help!
Because of recent changes to government funding, the NIH grant that supported FlyBase has been "terminated." flybase.org
Header with images of cultured cells and a Drosophila brain. Text below reads: We are excited to be recruiting our team of 3 post-doctoral research fellows to study the mechanisms underlying ageing-dependent glial cell dysfunction and its effects on neurodegeneration! This is a three-year Medical Research Council-funded cross-disciplinary, multi-partner project with one post-doctoral fellow at each site: Edinburgh Napier, University of Glasgow, and UCL. If you are interested in glial cell biology/neurodegeneration, functional genomics and bioinformatics please get in touch or apply below: Astrocyte ageing & Bioinformatics: Fiona Kerr, ENU (f.kerr@napier.ac.uk): Apply here: Closing Date: https://jobs.napier.ac.uk/mthrprod_webrecruitment/wrd/run/etrec179gf.open?WVID=150547JMmr&LANG=USA Tuesday 24th June 2025 Microglial Ageing & Bioinformatics: Dervis Salih, UCL (dervis.salih@ucl.ac.uk): Apply here: https://www.ucl.ac.uk/work-at-ucl/search-ucl-jobs/details?jobId=35013&jobTitle=Research+Fellow Closing Date: Thursday 26th June 2025 Drosophila models of neurodegeneration: Nathan Woodling, University of Glasgow (nathan.woodling@glasgow.ac.uk): Apply here: https://www.jobs.gla.ac.uk/job/research-associate-49?source=gla.ac.uk Closing Date: Wednesday 25th June 2025
We are excited to be recruiting 3 post-doctoral researchers to study glial cell dysfunction in #agingresearch and #neurodegeneration, including one position using #Drosophila models! If you are interested, please read more below to get in touch or apply (links in thread).
We found a new way to make mice live 30% longer! 🧪 #aging #longevity #rapamycin
A combination of classic longevity drug rapamycin with cancer drug trametinib was more effective than either on its own.

We will put forward a 500 million package for 2025-2027 to make Europe a magnet for researchers.
As well as ambitious proposals for R&I in the next EU budget.
We will also offer the best and brightest the right incentives to come to Europe ↓
The Economist cover 👀
So, essentially it can’t be just a coincidence…
A periodic reminder to cite your resources. Although no @pombase.bsky.social update in this issue, we did sneak onto the cover illustration.
I spent a very nice couple of days at the "Hidden Cell, Dark Genome" conference in Edinburgh last week ... and even got to win a supercute eukaryotic cell 🙂 Thanks to the organisers for arranging the meeting!
You can now ✅ verify your #OpenCloning sequences using sequencing data 🧬 (Sanger or Nanopore). Just load your files 📂 and see where they align! 🎯
#OpenCloning is free & Open Source, and supports most cloning methods! 🔬🛠️

It's time for individuals and organizations in Europe and other democratic countries to move mission- or life-critical IT services and infrastructure outside the reach of the US government; noting that US tech companies have already largely subordinated themselves.
