Ihara Saikaku was probably the greatest writer of male/male love stories of the Edo Period (1603-1868).
Saikaku’s most famous book about male/male love specifically is called Nanshoku okagami, published in 1687 and translated by Paul Gordon Schalow as The Great Mirror of Male Love.

Oh, that's so sad. He was such a great translator with an incredible sense of fun in his translations. I was sure our paths would cross at some point and that we'd meet in person. Sending strength to those who loved him.
