Another bad sign for D.C.: Tighter immigration policies are reducing tourism revenue. Domestic visits to D.C. far outpace international ones, but international tourists tend to spend much more money.
Per the D.C. CFO, the impact of the federal government layoffs may finally be hitting the city's revenues. He says in a new revenue estimate that sales/withholding tax collections for October were down, potentially reflecting the layoffs taking effect.

The difference between “resistance” and “resilience” is meaningfully important in this moment. We do need to stop their actions but we can and should be creating our own power too.
“Resilience” makes more clear that the people create our own power and can generate power if we choose to. It’s not the same as “acceptance.”
