The images today are chilling. Tanks being moved into DC while ICE drives through protesters and barricades.

In recorded calls, reports of overcrowding and lack of food at ICE detention centers ICE detentions have surged, but deportations have not. In the past month, NPR spoke to dozens of detainees, families and lawyers who spoke of overcrowded centers in Florida lacking food and medicine.

People in ICE detention are being denied health care and adequate nutrition, often given spoiled food or nothing at all.

Our government’s cruelty to immigrants is a moral failing — not a policy solution.

L.A. is a Mexican-American city. The majority of the population is made up of racial and ethnic minorities. We are all happy living together and really do not want to see our friends, neighbors and families being terrorized by federal robo-cops. This is bullshit.

We never had to worry about the U.S. military being used against our own country when Biden was president.

But that’s exactly what’s happened under both Trump administrations.
