Screw it. It is Spring Break here at the U and I've finally done something I have always wanted to do: count all the owls at Walter Library. For the first time since the library was renovated in 2002, here is a complete count of all the owls carved, chiseled, and sculpted into the library: 1,167!

I feel like every legislator needs to divulge their interests in any decision where the outcome involves money, business, religion, or patriarchy. It's just not ok to know they're self-dealing pretty much all the time, and when they're not, they're repping their weirdo fundamentalist faith.
Will there be an announcement that the funding for MDC is going to be opened up for general bidding? That would be a show. A show of...capable democracy. Why does this one nonprofit have a monopoly on taxes levied??

They won't start with banning birth control. First they'll lie about it. Then dictate who can prescribe it, use it, fund it, in what forms, and for how long. My hometown leaned into building a bike network because it was cheap to do on a limited municipal budget, in region that isn’t aligned on transit.
It was wildly successful, and is logically expanding.

If local governments want to provide relief from high gas prices RIGHT NOW:
1. Quick build bike and scooter lanes that are languishing as plans. Call it temporary, just cut the process theatre and make it happen. Get staff to scope more.
2. Flex general funding to run more transit service.
And please build protected/separated bike lanes, not paint. Use garbage cans, Jersey barriers, whatever, nothing special. Find the money later.

I mean, we've fafo'd around with fuel-inefficient transportation since the oil shocks of 1973. We stopped manufacturing sedans because our families deserved to be hauled around in tanks, not on transit or bikes or even sidewalks.
