The MJA is concerned about reports that journalists are being barred from medical conferences after an update to the ABPI code on public access to info about drugs now including journalists. Please let us know at admin@mjauk.org if you have been impacted by this.

It is really disheartening. I have SO many other things to be doing! But I am also only an AL so I don't have to do this and easier for me to walk away.

Niece visiting for weekend so brought with daughter to Meadowhall. They’ve left me to do their own thing (I’m good enough to carry coats). So far have bought a pyrex measuring jug. Sure this is unrelated to them not hanging out with me…

Containing a measles outbreak is nearly impossible. Now what? With vaccination levels well below those needed for herd immunity, outbreaks are lasting longer and becoming more dangerous, not just for the most vulnerable

The only way to contain measles - and prevent deaths - is vaccination for almost everyone. And we do not seem to be getting on top of it.... As one public health expert told me "it is ferociously infectious". www.doctors.net.uk/news/contain...

I think my time teaching at university is done. Doing a 4-wk mini course and 2/29 showed up. Such a huge waste of my time when already v busy (although the 2 that were there were great). Universities will lose access to professionals actually working in the real world because there’s just no point.

R number somewhere between 12-18. Hangs around in the air. Imagine the infection control nightmare in a A&E waiting room (hopefully a patient with suspected measles would have been triaged on arrival). 1 in 5 cases hospitalised potentially. Huge knock on impact on your immune system after recovery.
