Funny thing as someone who lives in Northern Europe, Malort doesn't even phase me, it's a type of bäsk, or wormwood liquor(in Swedish, the word 'malört' literally means wormwood). I've had enough absinthe that malört just tickles

The inspiration for making the Hell Knights a trio of weapons and skull covered long-haired metal dudes may have come from this picture...

If your kid wants a talking toy that new Talking Flower from Mario is pretty adorable. Minion wanted one. Nintendo doesn't use AI, it's an old-fashioned overpriced desk buddy that repeats the same 20 canned sentences like the gods intended

Our little guy does love his games(though he hates 'trendy stuff' and cringes at it, and cringes at AI, the only talking thing he wanted recently was the Mario Talking Flower which is adorbs), but we do the same; always dinner together, go somewhere every week, etc. Just...parent stuff?

The DVD itself was kinda hard to find back then since black metal was still pretty small in the US. We had the Florida and NY death metal scenes, and some stuff like Mercyful Fate/Venom, but often we had to either visit tiny shops, trade or go online, I'd say I saw more bands break out around 2003+

Zappa from Guilty Gear A man with both fists pushed up against his face, seemingly screaming. This was very fun to draw & color, keeping that creepy feeling from the reference image (check next image for the reference material) it was incredible. It was very satisfying coloring this artwork

Reference image This is the reference image for the Zappa commission. It is one of the commissioner's favorite metal albums. This one is a creature with a deformed face, no nose, only the nose hole, bandages around where his eyes would be, it seemed that IV cords are inserted into the eye sockets. Both fists pushing upward towards it face, both hands have eyes. Mouth is open to show its sharp teeth. Arms covered in bandages & blood is seeping through where the IV drips are inserted

This was a very fun piece to work on, it came out incredible
The pose (& the whole vibe) is a reference to a metal album cover
