For #IWD, we recognise the women of the U.S. Signal Corps. Called the "Hello Girls," 223 American telephone operators served in France, relaying orders to & from the front lines for the A.E.F. They had drill, wore uniforms & held ranks, but weren't recognised as military veterans until 1971.

We need to talk about this.
The Battle of Verdun was this man's idea. His thoughts were to cause maximum casulties to the French who would desperately defend the city, whilst minimising the German losses. It was not to work out that way.
