Not only are their shoes too big, their trousers are way too short.

Maybe we need a parallel scheme to the Human Authored one, but for books that are actually written by the people whose names are on the front. Perhaps we could call it "Author Authored".
Look, I don't know where the line should be, but it is just FALSE to say that everyone earning under $75k would pay no taxes under the current Democratic proposal. JOINT FILERS are two people, my dude.
Stores in Europe are stocked by truck deliveries, train deliveries, and ship deliveries, too. How do Germans think they get bananas, lol?
They are not nearly as insulated from rising oil prices as they think, even if they don't see it at the petrol pump.
You're misrepresenting the proposal by more than a little. No one is suggesting that AN INDIVIDUAL who earns <$75k pays no taxes, but that anyone filing jointly with a spouse would be. It's only $37.5k tax free for an individual, well below the $53k median single-earner income. Be fair, dude.

I have to admit that "I want it to be as dumbed down as possible" unutterably depressing.
Elizabeth Peters' Amelia Peabody books are, IMO, the standard for Victorian first person. Late Victorian and early Edwardian, actually, but still...
Pretty difficult to refute a single thing in this perfect assessment of where the f**k we are, from @iandunt.bsky.social:
I just read the term "digitally penetrated" with regard to a sexual assault, and I gotta admit, it took me longer than it should have to parse the meaning of that phrase.
Ugh, fuck cancer.
My friend Piper really needs help with her medical costs. She has advanced cancer and is trying to get some quality of life as her time runs out (yep we're there)

I gotta say that our solar system and electric car are looking like very canny investments rn.
Note that many people who claim NOT to be Republicans are actually Republicans.
Hill I will die on: There are normal Americans and there are Republicans.
Authors too, prolly!

Hey look, an opportunity to offset that 92k job loss number! HIRE MORE STAFF, duh.
Sorry to destroy the fun, but I thought you'd want to know.
I believe Democrats have officially reached the "Not ALL Nazis" stage.
Sounds fun, but McFayden is dead to me. He voices Voldemort in the 2025 full cast audiobook recordings of Harry Potter. Along with Hugh Laurie. I will never watch anything with those actors voluntarily again.
Graph of jobs numbers showing steady job growth during Biden's term and low growth with multiple months of losses since Trump took office in Jan 2025.
It's not one bad month:
The Luddites were RIGHT.
Oooh, new Veronica Speedwell book just landed. Whee!
Curing grief is the equivalent of eliminating love.
I think we should be pretty worried, at least in some of the spaces where LLMs are currently being pushed. E.g. bsky.app/profile/jona...
I'm perfectly willing to accept that LLMs can do some things more efficiently than humans. I've just not seen any evidence that they are any more capable of "reasoning" than a calculator and they certainly can't reliably perform tasks with the same "prompts' as you'd give a human.
If the accuracy of the output is entirely dependent on my giving absolutely perfect instructions tuned specifically to each task I try to get it to perform and even then its performance will vary, why wouldn't I just get a person to do it instead?
The campus left has been more correct than the US government about every conflict and ethical issue since at least the Vietnam War and possibly even before.
Also the US president who okayed installing the Shah of Iran in place of its democratically elected secular government. That decision continues to baffle and enrage me.
